Sri:
One Vadakalai mama in Madhavaperumal Koil asked me ” What’s this kalai bedham? What difference does it make to God when we prostrate oddly or evenly? When it all started? I say prostrate any times to my closer relatives as it does not make sense to me ”

Adiyen could not answer so falling here in Dharma Sandeha

Adiyen have an additional question – Should we count while prostrating?

Adiyen dAsan, I have few view points to share.I may be wrong. Request to correct me if I am wrong. Thanks in advance.

  1. When we look at our Guruparmparai tree (which is available on the internet), we can easily find out when different Madams or even the concept of Madams started. 
  2. Till the time of these Madams, one can say there was no Kalai Bedham and it must have started after various madams came into existence. Some where during 14-15 century. 
  3. This bedham must have been welcomed and fuelled by the British who always believed in divide and rule.
  4. Our Poorvacharyars have written so much on every topic that we want and if Kalai Bedham would have existed during those periods, they would have definitely written in details about the same.

Adiyen find the difference going deep till VaikhAnasam vs PAncharAthram. Today my friend said being VaikhAnasam.

Seriously adiyen head dizzying. One side too much to appreciate. One side thinking knowing more will lead to further divisions.
