Dear Bhakta,
Sri Velukkudi Swami in an upanyasam about Acharyas Vaibhavam says about Poorvachayars Vaarthaigal (holy words) to future BHaktas TO FOLLOW as much as posible in any circumstances, though it is really a tough task in this Kali YUga.
Adiyen will try to put together based on adiyens understanding from Swami’s Pravachanams.
1) Saha Bhojana Yogyar (Ahara Niyanamanam)
a) While cooking, think or chant or murmer about BHagavAN/Acharya Naamas to make the THaligai Sathvik. ANy other thinking while cooking will make the food Rajas/Tamas.
Ex: If one thinks about their family sorrow or thinks vengence about someone and cooks, then if we eat such food (though vegeterian), then we will get their gunas as well.
So, eating vegetarian itself cooked by someone, will enduce their gunas into us and we wil start behaving slowly like them over a time of time.
b) Avoid Rajas/Tamas vegeterian foods like Onion, Garlic, Mushroom primarily and the list is more as well.
c) Eat only Vegetarian food as Prasadham (after offering to SriKrishna).
d) While having Prasadham (Food, Water), think about BhagavAn and avoid any talking or different thinking/watching something in TV or cellphone etc….
The whole purpose is to:
* Cook Sathvik food by (follow a) & b)) and
* Offer to SriKRishna in our Prayer Room (follow c)) and then
* Give it back to SriKrishna in our Stomach who is residing as JAATARA AGNI (follow d)).
So, all these three purpose should beserved while eating food/Water.
2) Saha Vaasana Yogar
a) Choose whom we should Live with, and choose whom we should invite in our home and choose where we should stay if we go outside, and choose who should be our companion, freinds etc..
b) Each of their Gunas affects our Gunas as well.
If they are Sathvik persons, then we will be Sathvik.
If they are Rajas, or Tamas or even Naasthikas, then we will slowly become like them as well.
c) So being always in Sathvik Satsangam is necessary all time, since this Samsaram is Gora-Saagaram, which will drag us into padu kuzhi.
d) Try to enlighten and transform them with Yatha Shakthi to make them Sathvik with BHagvan/Acharya Grace. If it is beyond about capacity, then don’t do Visha Parichai. Just leave it and pray BhagavAn for wellness.
3) SammBHashana Yogar
a) Choose whom we should Talk with and who we should avoid talking
Same scenario applies.
Acharyas says, those who talks about Just Lowkikam &/or Naasthikam and no BHagavAn and Moksham, then avoid them, since “AVANGALUDAYA GUNAMUM NAMAKKU OTTIKIDUM. SLOWLY OUR NISHTAI WILL REDUCE”.
So, we need to remember these and apply in any circumstances whereever possible with BHagavAN and Acharya Ramanujar Grace and be in Sathvika Satsangam always like SriVelukkudi Krishnan Swami’s Satsangam.
Can BHakta bring home cooked vegeterain Prasadham in lunch box instead of office vegeterian food since it is not prasadham, their gunas while cooking will induce into Bhakta’s gunas. Yes, smelling also affects our gunas, but our Nithya Anushtana, Nithya Aaradhana, Nithya ANusandhana will certainly eliminate such temperory Dhoshams, since we are not the cause of roadside Rajo/Tamo smell or in other places.
PLease try to avoid such places where Rajas/Tamas foods are cooked as much as possible. Talk to HR and say, I have lunch box, can i eat at my desk and clean the desk after finish. Try talking first to HR, BHagavAn will help.
