Why should Dhuryodhan’s army die for a wrong cause?

Why should Ravan’s army die for a wrong cause?

Veera Swargam is end result but that doesn’t justify fighting.

1. Is mistake of ruler mistake of citizens?
2. Was Vibheeshana Swamy correct in switching sides?
3. Was Karna correct in not switching sides?

What is dharma here?

Fight for ruler or fight for cause?

Adiyean,
Karna is good example for friendship but failed to convince Duriyodhanan to turn to Dharma side and he did not switch even after that hence it is not acceptable as per Dharma
Sastra.Whereas, Vibeeshna did attempt to pursuade Ravana to give up the Virodha attitude and surrender to Bhaghavan Sri Raman. But since Ravana did not listen Vibeeshna had decided to tilt towards the Dharma markam which is exactly accepted by Bhaghavan Sri Raman.

So, it is one’s free will that can decide which side to go. If Karnan had acted as per Dharma sastra then he would have accepted Lord Krishna’s words and turned to Dharmam side. That’s why all his good deeds (dharma, kodai etc.,) were futile as he stood by Adhrma side. Even for that matter, Bhisma, Thronar etc all did not exercise their free wil properly and hence had to succumb to defeat. Because, it is always Dharmam that succeeds.

The same apply to citizens too. If a King is choosing evil or adhrma side then their citizens should try to convince the king to adapt right path; if unable to do then should unite to throw him out of power for the sake of establishing Dharmam.

So, Indian army should check why we should fight
for India instead of obeying orders and take decisions based on Jeeva swAthanthriyam?

Swamy,
It is upto the individual whether to join or not in India and unlike in Singapore where there is compulsory 2 year military services for the citizens. There you have no choice but to accept but that is again because of those citizen’s past karma ( they born in that country).
So, again it is one’s free will to choose.
If we follow exactly the Varnas then it is Shatria Dharma to fight for country if enemy tries to occupy through adharma.

Hope, this has addressed the issue.

on April 22, 2018

No Swamy, it didint address the issue

Let’s say a Kshatriya joins army. Should he use his free will or follow orders?

Raja dharmam is to follow orders.
While the intention of Raja may not be liked by the soldier. He feels it’s unethical.

What should he do? Quit the army?
Could it not be an act of Raja thandhiram by Raja?

Raja thandhiram is allowed right? How is soldier part of the Raja’s sin?

As per ShAstram citizen’s sin affect the king. Adiyen thinking about reverse

In short, obviously fight for Good cause or to establish Dharmam as specified in our Veda Sasthras.

on April 22, 2018

Srimathe Rangaramanuja Mahadesikaya Namaha

Let’s say the company we work for is taking business decisions that could be non ethical. Can employees be held responsible?

We are not in the decision making positions right? If we in board of directors is acceptible but if we are in executory position how can that be our fault?

Dasanudasan

on April 22, 2018

Obviously, one should not involve in unethical business practices. In fact, it is also Adharmam for any body ( even for Vaisya or businessmen) if it does not comply with Law or Veda Sastra..
If we, as employee, come to know that our company is doing business unethically then we can get ridoff this place if we can . Though we are not involved directly.

Nowadays, many MNCs enforce this ehical business pra ctices among their employees and educate them. Its a good sign. Adiyean personally undergone many such ethical briefings and completed mandatory tests to make sure employees are aware of the ethical practices to be followed and not involve in any unethical behaviour. This is mandatory in many MNCs especially of origin fom Western countries.

Swamy,

We are going into a different geography. They expect devar to be ethical but are they ethical? They frame it under “Business ethics”.They might do all sorts of things to win a deal.

It’s not a question about how an individual react or expected to react. The question is about dharmam.

Can we say to our manager “Sathyam Vada”???

Let’s say somebody’s company looses a lawsuit eg: Google. Should all employees of Google resign?

Does the act of top management impacts employee?

When there is adharma, and if we are in power we should correct the entire system.. eg Prahalad his father the king and entire kingdom was set right and bagavan did support. Sri Krishna never faught.. he took the dharma side but never gave up on his varnashrama dharma though nobody can even compare with normal people. Even if the whole world goes wrong we are bound to uphold dharma and there will be no compromise. Vibishna was right though a bit late, karna was wrong, and the army on wrong sides are wrong as well. If in army n cause is inappropriate adiyen believes that we have to give up that war which is not faught for a righteous cause. If thoughts are well and strong, and movements are initiated bagavan will support in convincing the nation as well.

Well said Ramanujadasi Bhaghavatha!!
Yes, if we really want to stick to Dharma side then we need knowing how to get ‘detached’ from the Adhrmas as much as possible.
If we are unable to get rid off , due to some valid reasons, then at least realize and pray to Bhaghavan to relieve from that situation as soon as possible. He can provide you with an alternative option that follows Dharmam.
It could be a company or workplace that we are bound by it or a group or country etc.

Srimathe Rangaramanuja Mahadesikaya Namaha

Dhanyosmi . More clarification required Swamy.

From Kaurava’s army perspective they are fighting for nation’s dharma. From Pandava’s army perspective they are fighting for their nation’s dharma.

Whose dharma is actual dharma?

Let’s say you eat in a theif’s house when you were terribly hungry, You realized he was a thief later.

1. Will you stand for “Nandri Kadan” like Karna?
2. Will you try to point out the thief when police asks?
3. Stay away when he is harmed?

Mana sAkshi uruthuma uruthadha? Saapaadu potaaney, thappu pandraan, thirutha mudila.

குறள்:
எந்நன்றி கொன்றார்க்கும் உய்வுண்டாம் உய்வில்லை
செய்ந்நன்றி கொன்ற மகற்கு.

Kural in Tanglish:
Ennandri Kondraarkkum Uyvuntaam Uyvillai
Seynnandri Kondra Makarku.

Why go to Karna? Let’s talk practically as to what we will do in real life situations. sanAthana dharmA is not always about the past though it is old.

NAmaskaram

I think what is being said is true and ideal, but to bring such drastic changes depends on our level of devotion and requires high purity..So if one is so pure then they can change the whole system.

But for an ordinary pious person who is slowly cultivating devotion, he cannot and should not fight the system to change it will be hypocritical.. but what he can do is to exercise his free will and choose the right leader, right country, right organisation etc.. prayers and desire will lead to right choice, but it might involve some compromise in material sense.

Another alternative is one can do whatever duty is assigned to him in a detached way as a matter of duty and use the results of work in Lord’s service in Prasadam, book distribution, temple donation etc.. then his motivation of work becomes different from the leader. This option is valid provided the leader is not committing heavy deviations away from sastra.. for such scenarios.. previous option of exercising freewill through prayers and desire to make right choice is best.

Note: Bheesamacharya though he fought on wrong side, he did it as a matter of service to increase the glories of the Lord. He was an instruemnt by which Lord taught us few lessons 1) Even if a Storng person like Bhismacharya is in the adharma side he will loose   2) The lord protects the devoteee’s promise and does nto care about his promise.(Sri Krishna broke his promise not to fight but kept the promise of Bhismacharaya that only Krishna’s fighting can protect Arjuna)

So Bhisma dev acted according to Lord’s plan and still was on wrong side in the fight..

So it is possible to be in service in any side but for normal people like us we need to be on right side.

Dharma sankatam may be exceptional. But for karna he could have repaid in smaller way like he could have fought along with Pandavas and said he will not not kill Duryodhana. In your case of thief; advise and leave the company, but again help during distress but do not lie. Any wrong/lie which will result in greater benefits for many people is not ‘wrong’ so anyways theifs giving food will get accounted to his punya, but supporting the wrong is a greater pavam. Eg: swami ramanujar went against his Acharya to do great justice and saved us all(might b wrong comparison, just came to mind) That small pavam is negligible and will not be counted since it results in greater good, but bigger ones are not. Bheeshmacharya knows that if he dies in hands of God mukthi is certain, so it’s game played by both srikrisha and his bhaktha, which is again exceptional.

Have Heard from our Krishnan swami that only if we are powerless we should walk away, otherwise bagavan favours the brave; who will stand up and correct adharma.
