Veda gives importance to self defence.
Sometimes it even says lying to safe guard from life threat is allowed.
While people like harishchandra says lying itself is a big threat.

While Sita Piratti says:
“SollinAl suduven adhu avan villukku izhukku agividum”

So swamy, piratti wants Sri Ram to protect. Though she can burn Ravana to ashes she didn’t. While she goes to the extent of committing suicide.

Do we defend ourselves or allow PerumaL to protect? When what is applicable?
