Practices which are followed during Shraadham and first 10 days of a person’s death

Adiyen, Swamy, I had few doubts regarding the practices which are followed during Shraadham and also during the 1st year of a person’s death in the family:

    • Why people say that the kartha shouldn’t go to temple for a period of 1 year?

    • Why shouldn’t kartha go to the temple on the day of Sharaadham or masikam?

    • Why some people don’t do Sandhyavandanam (precisely japam) during Sutakam? Isn’t it our Nityakarma?

    • Should Garudapuranam be studied only during these 10 days of the person’s death? Shouldn’t be read inside the house?

There is no restriction on Karta going to temple on the day of sraddham. Although sandhyavandanam is a Nitya karma, as the Karta is clouded with asoucham there are restrictions. There is no specific advice to read Garuda puranam within these 10 or out of these 10.

Namaskaram.

When our Appa attained ShivalokaPrapti, Vadyaar told us PiruKarmam holds highest priority with respect to any other Karma or Pooja. So there is no restriction in nityapooja at home but the same can be performed after doing Maasikam or Shradham on respective days. May be this view would have got depicted in different ways.

Kindly correct if any changes in the view.
