Govindan Narayanan swamy namaskaram.
in the ideal situation, a brahmana does not receive a salary, does nor sell his knowledge or services for a price. He uses all his natural gifts in service to God and other living beings. In honour of such selfless service from him, others offer dakshinA or sambhavanA to the extent they can afford on their own accord. There should not be a fixed price tag for his services.
So, those of us who are in occupations such as the IT industry, can at best consider ourselves ‘brahma-bandhu’, as per the ideal conditions.
Even those who are engaged in brahminical services (such as officiating priest in marriage, etc), I am not sure if they can really follow the ideal principle in today’s consumeristic society. Although there are some rare individuals who still live by the ideal principle, for most it is difficult to follow in today’s world. In the by gone days, the cost of living was lesser, and the basic necessities of life was also simpler. So, it was possible for them to make do with whatever came through voluntarily given dhakshina.
But unfortunately, although salareis of people have gone up mutifold over the decades, our attitude to offer dakshina / sambhavanai to the priests has not grown to that extent. People feel somewhat stingy. This is part of the reason for the present day ‘bhramanas’ to fix a price for their services.
Getting back to your question: can a brahmana sell poonal? In the ideal case, he shouldn’t ‘sell’ things. But in today’s world it is unrealistic to place such constraints. Ayurveda practitioners are not supposed to charge money for using their knowledge to treat their patients; so present day ayurveda doctors don’t charge for their service; but they sell the medicine and that is their source of sustenance. In a similar way, we may consider it as acceprable for distributing poonal.

Adiyen completely agree with Kambandasan Swamy.
Adding to it,
It is better to buy poonal / yagnyoopaveetham from a Brahmin than any other street vendor. While creating Brahma mudichu, they should have told some mantram.
This is adiyen’s opinion not vaidheegam based reply as experts quoted above!
Adiyen see lot of commercialization which dilutes the Bhakthi SAram at the other end.
Neither we should think bad nor they should commercialize bhakthi.
Lakshmi’s Velli kudam only for first 10 devotees. Hurry up!
This could be avoided. I get an Amazon feeling.

Periyava response was very eye-opening message for me ! For those poor gnana Brahmana Balagan diverted to Thamasa ,Rajoa gunaavanukaga he wants to do something practical which will attract towards sampradaya, benefits of sampradaya due to living needs, stopping him to think about bad habits. Hence asked for that xyz person, also being I am a neechan running behind money adiyen also wants to try to know poonal(yagnopaveetam) making as a service to avoid the commercial buying in future for all neighborhood Brahmanas benefits. Adiyen neechan ramanujadasan shamikavum thapaga koori irunthal .

Govinda Narayanan Swamy,
This message is to all.
We all have to keep contributing. Adiyen will not call it donation but contribution. Two things:
1. It’s our duty to serve Brahmanas
2. We can gain புண்ணியம் whether we intend புண்ணியம் or not is a different issue.
To me , am very clear, won’t be bothered. about what others do or don’t do.
We have to keep doing our duty.
If we feed a Vedic Brahmana their stomach will bless us. My mother has told.
What is the value of our sampAdhyam? It has to go to some good cause.
What’s the purpose of life?
Velukkudi Swamy has told ” parOpakAram Idham shareeram”
This body itself is there to help others.
Now does the world run on our help?
Clearly NO
It is an opportunity for our Kainkaryam
Does Rama require Sugriva to kill Ravana?
No
SriRama gives opportunity to Sugriva to do Kainkaryam
