Swamy, Dasaratha said “Rama” at the time of his death.
Rishi valmiki states that when Rama killed Ravana , all people who are living in swarga, came and poured flowers on Rama. In that time king Dasaratha also came and blessed Rama.
Ajaamilan said “narayana” and got moksham. But, why Dasaratha went to swargam and can’t get moksham although he said “Rama”?

Swamy, I am not able to believe that King Dasarata who could not live in separation from Rama would have wanted swargam!
Is there any reference in valmiki Ramayana that King Dasarata wanted swargam and also reference for that he came from swaragam , if so please share the chapter /sarga number.

Actually this is really a good question.
At the time of death if we think of param porul we should be on the way to moksham.
Maareechan also said “Hey Seethey Hey Lakshmana” while dying. Adiyen wonder where he went? 🤔

Swamy desikan has told BhAgavatha ApachAram will be a hindrance to moksham in same birth if not resolved then & there.
So BhAgavatha apachAram to Sri Bharatha may have been a show stopper for Dasaratha.
Adiyen vaguely remember but cannot confirm. Need to check & get back.

What I am gonna say what I have listened in swamy’s upanyasam
I don’t remember properly but according to one of achraya’s/alwar’s It is already good enough that dasratha didn’t go to naraka and went to swarga instead, and the reason is Dasaratha gave more importance to his promise to kaikeyi than to Rama… He could have said no to kaikeyi and even broke his promise because in front of perumal his promise should be inconsiderable but he gave much more importance to his promise than to Srirama and made Rama to go to forest and hence its already good enough that he attained swarga upon death..

Dasarathasya putra: DAasarathi
They belong to ikshvAku kulam/vamsam/clan.
Harishchandra was part of Ikshvaku dynasty.
They stand by the word. We may see it positively.
Even if its Rama , word is a word.
That’s their strength
In front of PerumaL everything will seem insignificant but even Sri Rama won’t agree if his father broke the word that too in context with him.
Sri Ram advises his Amma not to come to forest and stay with father.
Same happens with himself, as a couple both face the adversary in forest.
Except for Lakshmana for whom Kainkaryam was pradhAnam he left his wife.
This teaches us that “In the name of Kainkaryam we can go to any extent”
Later Sri Rama asks his father to forgive Bharatha and make him his son back when Dasaratha was in Swarga.
Sri Rama cleanses any gap in the hindrances.
Now the main question here is:
“Can blood relation be denied by a word?”
This is what distrubing adiyen.

What I have written above is what I have heard in an upanyasam and I really can’t remember which one was it and I really really hope I haven’t heard it wrong… There’s no personal opinion in that so yeah idk what else to answer further as the answer above what I have written satisfied me
