Namaskaram,
Not all atheists are scientists. And Not all scientists are atheists.
The Point and Goal of Modern Science is to know how things work, in both Macro World and The Micro World. There is no one absolute law in Science. Science has progressed, from the time of Newton to Stephen Hawking. Many previously assumed correct and absolute laws have been proved incorrect by new theories. So, in science there is always improvement and developement of existing laws. For example, Newton’s Theory of Gravity and Einstein’s theory of Gravity vary greatly, and the latter theory is the more correct one. But it doesn’t assume an unlimited domain of Correctness. All we can say is, of all the experiments that are done, there are none to prove Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity is wrong. That doesn’t mean it is the only correct law, infact there are certain problems regarding the theory, which are technical.
So, what I am trying to tell is, Science just tries to find new laws and explanation for the various physical phenomena we see. There are no Defeats in Science. Science will keep progressing, using the failure of certain theories to obtain new theories which can explain the Universe. The Failures are in fact stepping stones for the Scientists, and Scientists are open minded to accept whatever failures in their theory is, since their main aim is to find out how the Universe functions, not to prove that their theories are the only thing Correct.
And if one believes in the Big Bang theory, then one can believe in Dark Energy. Dark Energy is hypothetical, and the evidence gathered is from certain images obtained from Telescopes. Dark Energy is believed to be the reason for the expansion of Universe, if one believes in the Big Bang Model. And according to it, Dark Energy constitutes 68% in the Universe. And I believe, this should not be taken as something connected to God, because there isn’t confirming evidence for Dark Energy.
So, I would like to conclude that the point of Modern Science is to provide explanation for the various physical phenomena we see, by gathering evidence and by involving mathematics. It is not absolute and Science will keep progressing, learning from the previous mistakes. Hence, please don’t think the flaws in Scientific theories are defeats in any way. They just provide a path to gathering knowledge about our Universe, in the Scientific way.
( And may I please know where the information about Quantum Mechanics and Rotation is Reversed was obtained? Thanks!)
Thank You,
Yours,
Shriram
