Today I took pancha samskaram. My relative refered to the Acharya. The process went smooth. Thank you for your guidance, encouragement, advice and support.

I would like to know the Do’s and don’ts to be followed by a srivaishnavite after samasrayanam. 

I went through the details given under vaishnava lakshanam. I would like to know other guidelines, may be even unwritten but being followed, e.g., I was told that after samasrayanam, in a temple when the priest offer harathi, one should not place hand over harathi as everyone does and simply worship the Lord with folded hands.

With Acharya ThiruvAdi Bhalam and Ammangaar Abhimaanam and Velukkudi Sri Krishnan Swami’s Aasirvadham, some insights from Swami’s upanyasams about what to be followed after Samasrayanam.

There is detailed explanations available in Swami’s Mumukkshupadi upanyasam from PoorvacharyAr Pillai LokacharyAr Swami’s granthma, which devareer will be able to understand and follow after Samasrayanam due to Swami RamanujAr Krupai.

After one does Sharanagathy on Swami RamanujAr ThiruvAdi through Samasrayanam, Swami RamanujAr with HIS “NirHedhukai Krupai (Causeless Mercy)” will Bless the Sharanagathan to develop the:

PRIMARY 8 TRUE/KEY CHARACTERISTICS OF A DEVOTEE (BHAKTHA), as said by PoorvacharyAr Azhagiya Manavaala Perumal Naayanaar in Acharya Hrudhayam.

1) என்னுடைய பக்த ஜனங்கள் பக்கல் வாத்சல்யம் உள்ளவனாய்,

(The person should have ultimate respect/maryadhai to MY other PURE Devotees everytime)

2) என்னுடைய ஆராதனத்தில் உகப்பு உள்ளவனாய்,

(The person should have ultimate self interest & liking in doing Poojai (Aaradhani) on ME every day without anyone’s compulsion / எனக்கு பூஜை செய்யும் பொது அவன் சந்தோஷமாக செய்ய வேண்டும். கடைமைக்காகவோ, இல்லை கட்டாயத்தாலோ, பூஜை செய்ப்பவனாய் இருக்க கூடாது.)

3) தானே ஆராதிக்கயும்,

(The person should have ultimate Involvement in the Poojai (Aaradhani) on ME. Means we invite a Bhattar Swami for doing the Poojai or Homam or any Satvika Activities at Home or other senior members are doing Poojai at Home, and we not involving in that Poojai (Aaradhanai) by watching TV, cell phone or other means should be avoided, / தானே ஈடுபட்டு அந்த ஆராதனை செய்யக்கூடியவனாய் இருக்க வேண்டும்.)

4) என் பக்கல் டம்பம் அற்று இருக்கையும்,

(The person should be Humble Devotee of ME every day. Means should not make business with Peurmal by saying I’m Perumal Devotee /பெருமாளிடம் எளிமையான பக்தனாய் இருக்க வேண்டும். நான் பெருமாள் பக்தன், நான் பெருமாள் பக்தன், நான் பெருமாள் பக்தன் என்று ஆடம்பரம் காட்ட கூடாது)

5) என் கதையை கேட்க்கும் இடத்தில் பக்தியும்
(The person should be always interested and Happy to hear MY stories)

6) பக்தி கார்யமான ஸ்வர நேத்ர அங்கங்களில் விஹாரமும்
(The person while hearing my stories from others, should have his throat stumble and eyes filled with tears and gets immersed on to ME. Example, Swami Anjaneeya situation while Srimadh Ramayanam & like Swami KoorathAzhvan / என் கதையை கேட்ட்கும் பொது அவன் குரல் தழுதழுத்து நேத்ரங்களில் கணீர் வழிந்து புளகாங்கிதம் ஆகா வேண்டும்.)

7) என்னையே எப்போதும் நினைக்கையும்,

(The person should always think about ME all the time. Some bhakats think about ME on Saturdays when they go to Temple and forget ME till next Saturday visit to Temple. Some think about ME during Poojai in morning and forget about ME till next day morning Poojai etc.. Some think about ME during Utsavam/festival times or Maargazhi maasam, and forget about ME till next time. So we should not be like that. சதா என் நினைவு உள்ளவனாய் இருக்க வேண்டும்.)

8) என்னை ப்ரயோஜனாந்திர கொள்ளாது ஒழிகையும்,

(The person should not use me as a tool to pray ME for low level Materialistic bodily pleasures (needing more money to be rich, full-fill desires for selfish reasons, for pride, for a higher posting etc… though “I” (Sarvagjyan) will fulfill the basic necessities needed for their life with no doubht. சுயநல நோக்கத்திற்காக என்னை கும்பிடாதவனாக இருக்க வேண்டும்.)

Though it may appear as tough to achieve in a day or in a month or in a year or in few years, but if One achieves this 8 Standards, then even if that Person is a mleccha म्लेच्छ மிலேச்சன் by background, such person needs to be Considered & Treated with HIGH RESPECT and equal to Almighty GOD itself, since that Person is above ANYONE of any Religion and above all Varnas (above Brahman) and above all Castes as said by Sri Vaishnava PoorvAcharya Pillai LokacharyAr Swami..

This can be attained, only if HIGH level Satva Guna can be achieved with Acharya RamanujAr Krupai by doing daily Poojai to Swami NammAlwar and JagadacharyAr Swami RamanujAr. Let’s all try to follow PoorvAcharyas Thiru Ullam with BhagavAn Sriman NarayanA’s Grace.

Other details like Acharam, and what to do in Temple during Arthi or during theettu etc….etc…etc…are secondary (miniscule) to Sharanagathan, but it is a BY-PRODUCT which will be developed automatically once the Primary 8 characteristics are adhered. There are tons and tons of Do’s and Dont’s in Shastras, but everyone cannot or maynot be able to follow everything, so Once own Acharyan will provide the specific guidelines to that particular Shishya based on their Yatha Shakthi that one may be able to follow within the prescribed do’s and dont’s of shastras.  So don’t get worried or scared looking at ALL the do’s and dont’s of Shastras.

Adiyen just noticed devareer upper post that devareer got Panchasamskaram on Acharyan RamanujAr ThiruvAdi at Kancheepuram Prathivathi Bhayangara AnnangaracharyAr Swami ThiruvAdi lineage. All due to Swami RamanujAr Krupai and Velukkudi Sri Krishnan Swami’s Aasirvadham. Another thread Ragesh Swami also posted that Ragesh Swami got Panchasamskaram at SriRangam with Velukkudi Sri Krishnan Swami’s Aasirvadham.
