Dear Vikram Swami – It depends on the level of surrender. The lesser the surrender, the more we ask, the more we surrender, the lesser we ask. If surrender is 100%, then there is nothing to ask.

Bg 4.11 — என்னிடம் சரணடைவதற்கு ஏற்றாற் போல, நான் அனைவருக்கும் பலனளிக்கின்றேன். பிருதாவின் மகனே, எல்லா விதத்திலும் அனைவரும் என் வழியையே பின்பற்றுகின்றனர்.
Bg 4.11 — As all surrender unto Me, I reward them accordingly. Everyone follows My path in all respects, O son of Pṛthā.
Bg 9.22 — ஆனால் எனது திவ்ய ரூபத்தின் மீது தியானம் செய்துகொண்டு, களங்கமற்ற (அனன்ய) பக்தியுடன் என்னை நித்தியமாக வழிபடுபவர்களுக்கோ, அவர்களுக்கு வேண்டியவற்றைக் கொடுத்தும், அவர்களிடம் இருப்பவற்றை காத்தும் நான் பாலிக்கின்றேன்.
Bg 9.22 — But those who always worship Me with exclusive devotion, meditating on My transcendental form – to them I carry what they lack, and I preserve what they have.
யோக-க்ஷேமம் – Our swamy explains that this means, something that is ‘never’ attained before and to preserve or protect it, so it is not lost after attaining it. So that is the reason why bhagavan does not give it so ‘easily’.
