My colleague asked, I have daughters. Now I am thinking are women treated in equality of men?

I tried answering my level best from Srimath Ramayana. Commitment. King’s duty. Democracy. Ruler- Citizen relationship.

One question he asked in – between
Sri Ram put Seethamma to fire test

Did SriRam himself prove Pathnivratha gunam?

Adiyen thought for a while & said “Only Sri Ram can answer this”

While telling, adiyen was thinking, asking most loved wife to do firebath itself a self test isn’t it?

Adiyen said SriRam didn’t do any other marriage so his entire rest of life was put to test.

Any other answers? Should men also prove themselves?

Don’t men have Chastity?

My mother used to say “Men also have Chastity”.

Any pointers?

Yes, men also have chastity. But that chastity cannot be tested merely by marriage only. 

Valluvar perumAn guides us here as ‘Pirar Manai Nokka PerAnmai’! 

If women can lose their chastity even just by the ‘thought’ (of a different man), then the same should apply to men too.

We see Bhagawan Sri Rama as a personification of it.

An interesting point to note from this :

Verse 42 : “With his mind wholly devoted to you, Rama is not even driving away forest-flies from his body, nor mosquitoes nor insects nor reptiles from his body.”

So mosquitoes did not spare even Lord Rama.

Yes that’s why

நடந்த கால்கள் நொந்தவோ
The one who forgives mosquitoes could have never been non-veg

Unless there is a requirement SriRam had not intervened in anything

According to Govindarajeeya vyakhya, Lord Rama did eat meat. That is a separate topic.

This verse 42 indicates how Lord Rama was always thinking of Sitha matha, so much so that he didn’t even care to drive away the insects from His body.
