I think people do not know what our ashramams/matham’s teachings are. They just think it is something religious, we have not been taught brahma vidya and other meditation techniques by our acharyas ever since adopting the sharanagathi path. isha, art of living, etc are reintroducing techniques that we already have in vaishnavism but were never taught properly. How many boys in cities are taught to concnetrate while doing gayathri mantra everyday in a proper meditative manner. People in patashalas are taught such technique but the common grihastha knows not. These new yogic organsiations teach it to everyone with no prejudice, and to barhamans, nonbrahmins, women, men all inclusive and people get some peace from focussing inward. Since the sharanagathi path makes them go complacent they long for something to focus on and these are that. Moreover they are also taught exercises to keep fit and to stay fit which makes it attractive.
Beautiful reply Swamy. Most of them talk about Shiva though. I am not against Shiva but against calling him para Brahmam. That’s why I wish we refrain from other school of thoughts by having a better understanding of our sampradayam.

It is also not always true that only Sri Vaishnavas go and join the organizations you have mentioned. Sometimes, things happen the other way round too.
For example, I was interested and was actually following one of the organizations devareer mentioned (not willing to mention here), but still somehow or other adiyen had the mercy of Emperuman and Swami Sri Ramanujacharyar, through Sri Velukkudi Swami’s upanyasams.
And even adiyen is convinced now that “Uyya orey vazhi Udayavar Thiruvadi”.
