Adiyen has thought many times about this topic having personally experienced this in ‘some’ of our temples and ashramams. I hestitated always to discusses this in public as i have very little knowledge / ignorant about our sampradyam.
I highly respect Goshtis for their knowledge in prabandams and vendata, please make no mistake. I feel Goshti dominate in temples / ashramams daily which discourages other Bhaktas / Bhagavathas near any sanidhis while receving theertham, shatari or prasadam. They are aserting their prominence in a way many youngsters especially in cities like Bangalore (where I come from) shy away from enteriing temples.
Bhagavad Ramanujar who did enourmous amount of social service has stressed on bringing in more Adiyars in worshipping Permual, Alwars and Acharyas, many of these Goshtis are doing oppsite by blocking samanyan like myself.
Even in sevais, Goshits stand in front of Ubayakaras literally pushing them backwards just before prasada viniyoganm and then leave immediately afterwards, I see no bhakti in this.
They have formed exclusive groups in temples, they need to do opposite, inviting others and educating them. We need to be Adiyar’s adiyar as our alwars have said. We need to bring in more youngsters to cultivate interests in Sri Vaishnavism especially in cosmopolitan cities. All goshtis are fortunately / unfortunately are retired persons.
I felt I should be sharing this in Dharma-Sandeha. Adiyen humbly requests Swamy to highlight this in some appropriate discourses so that it will be effectively conveyed without hurting them. Swamy is the right person to do so.
