Dear BhagavAta,
All our Sath Vishaya Knowledge is received from Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami’s Pravachanams and Anugraham. LIke Swami is the Speaker (Chaitanyam Udaya Swami), and the Mic (Achit Jada Porul) only transmits what Swami’s says to all, same way, adiyen is only a Tool/Karuvi (Microphone) that regurgitated what Swami has said. So KIndly don’t say, that “Through Bagavata’s explanation and through Swamy’s answer” cleared BHagavAtas doubht. All are actually Swami’s answer, since Adiyen only collectively put together and SHARED/Regurgiated with BHagavAta, what adiyen has heard in Swami’s Different upanyasam topics at Different times.

Tarakasur an Asura had three sons, Vidyunmali, Tarakaksha and Viryavana, and these three asuras were referred as “Thripurasuras” who lived in AIR. Once they got boon from Brahma to make them immortal and this bon was denied, then they asked for 3 forts to be built in 3 different worlds, The Golden fort was built in heaven, the Silver fort in the sky and the Iron fort on earth. Each of the forts was a big as a city and had many palaces and vimanas (space vehicles) inside. These three asuras can be killed only when all the 3 forts are destroyed at same time which can be done only when all the three fort aligns in one line which hapens only once in 1000 years. This unsual boon was granted by Brahma to them due to their Tapasya. THe demi-gods were jealous of these three asuras life style, so they went to BRahma and Shiva asking them to destroy their fort cities and kill them, but BRahma and Shiva denied the request, since the Asuras were “Not doing anything Wrong”, they wee only living in their cities. So the demi-gods went to Sri Vishnu (the Protector). Sri Vishnu said always does anything for their Sharanagathas. So Sri Vishnu suggested that if the problem was that the demons were doing nothing wrong, then the solution was to persuade them to become sinners and SriVishnu made some plan and eventually, these asuras committed sins. Then demi-gods wnet to Shiva and said, now these asuras are sinners, so destroy them.
So, Shiva went in a chariot, the chariot driver was his father Brahma, and Shiva used NarayanAN Astra in which Sri VIshnu (The SUpreme ParaBrahmam) sat on the Astra, once al teh three forst aligned in Tripura, then Shiva sent this arrow and destroyed the Tripurasuras which is the “Tripura Samharam”.

After Tripura Samharam incident, life was going normal for Brahma and Shiva (Father and Son) in their own worlds, but Brahma and Shiva are MISHRA satvam, means made of mixture of Satva, Rajas & Tamas Gunas. So they behave sometimes good (satva), sometimes egoistic/angry (rajas), sometimes drowsy/ignorance (tamas). Only BhagavAN SriVishnu is SUDDHA Satvam (NO Rajas and NO Tamas gunas).
Regarding when Brahma got 5 heads, it is a wavy information that adiyen got from Google Acharyan and from actual Granthams with Acharya Krupai and Swami’s Anugraham as below.
a) Srimadh Bhagavatam kaandam 3 Adhyayam 12 slokam 54. Brahma created Svayambhu “Manu” and created of Manu’s queen Svayambhu “Shatarupa” for Prajaigal Vritthi in this lokam (to make children with their relationship).
b) Matsya Purana (adiyen DON”T know the verse) says, Shatarupa was beautiful, and Brahma due to his Rajas guna reflection got infatuated and pursued her wherever she went. Shatarupā moved in various directions to avoid his gaze but wherever she went, Brahma used his four heads to gaze her, then Shatarupa moved to upward direction, Brahma thus developed a 5th head so he could gaze her in all directions. Obiviously, it is understood from Srimadh Bhagavtam Kaandam-3 Adhyayam-8 Slokam-16 above, the BRaham had only 1head intially and developed 4 heads, when he was looking in all four directions, so NO wonder Brahma developed 5th head in the upward direction to gaze Shatarupa. THis 5th head was always Evil mouth of Brahma, and Braham was living with 5 heads even during the Tripura Samharam.
There are two stories as how Brahmas 5 head was cut off by his son SHiva.
Story 1: SriVaishna Acharya upanyasams, Swami has said SHiva also 5 heads, and there was ego clash between Brahma and Shiva as both cannot have 5 heads, and Shiva cut of his father Brahma’s 5th head.
Story 2: Shiva Purana, GyanaSamhita 49:65-80.
Brahma’s 5 head always spoke evily and coarsely. One day when Shiva was wandering about with Parvathi and came to see his father Brahma, Brahma’s four heads praised Shiva but the fifth made an evil sound and Parvathi was upset about it. Shiva, displeased with his father’s fifth head beahviour infront his doughter-in-law Parvathi, cut it off. The skull remained stuck fast to Shiva’s hand, and SHiva got rid of it with Sriman Narayan’s karunai as seen in above Alwar’s paasuram.

That’s why we have to ALWAYS PRAY AND DEPEND up on SUddha Satva BhagavAN Sriman NArayanAN and NIthya Sooris like AdiSheshan (Swami Ramanujar) to protect us, since they are not Parcel of Mishra Satvam.
