Namaskaram,
I have a few doubts regarding ‘Theetu’. I am confused with varied practices that are being followed.
- I have heard few people say that certain types of clothes / materials, as given below, do not have ‘theetu’. Are these views correct?
- New clothes do not have theetu until it is washed for the first time.
- Woollen clothes / rubber sheets do not have theetu.
- Plastics covers / gunny bags do not have theetu.
2. Please suggest some best practices to be followed in these days where every house has a cot / bed and it might not be possible to wash the cots frequently. Can it be considered that as long as the cot / bed is new (not washed for the first time), there is no ‘theetu’ ? Or can we cover these cots with wool / rubber sheets during ‘theetu’ or during days when women are on their menstrual periods?
