Doubt regarding concept of

Namaskaram,

I have a few doubts regarding ‘Theetu’. I am confused with varied practices that are being followed.

  1. I have heard few people say that certain types of clothes / materials, as given below, do not have ‘theetu’. Are these views correct?
  • New clothes do not have theetu until it is washed for the first time.
  • Woollen clothes / rubber sheets do not have theetu.
  • Plastics covers / gunny bags do not have theetu.

2. Please suggest some best practices to be followed in these days where every house has a cot / bed and it might not be possible to wash the cots frequently. Can it be considered that as long as the cot / bed is new (not washed for the first time), there is no ‘theetu’ ? Or can we cover these cots with wool / rubber sheets during ‘theetu’ or during days when women are on their menstrual periods?

Sri:

Swamy,
Yes adiyen also learn from Amma that new clothes until 1st wash does not have theetu.

Regarding bed, cot is made of wood. Wood no theetu.

The bedsheet if is is cloth , it should be washed.

* Ahamudayan pondaati theetu (hubby & wife)
*Menstrual theetu & so on

Rubber can also be washed but no theetu. Plastic no theetu.

Preferably until sleep, not to touch bed or sit on it

This is adiyen’s understanding
