No Swami, it is a pre-requisite to get Samasharayanam from an Acharya, then can chant Dvayam.

Although some recommend to get initiation but if you can’t get it due to various reasons, just chat it anyway
Don’t worry, nothing bad will happen. It’s beautiful mantra for your own mother 🙂
