Srimatae Ramanujaya Namaha,
Asmadh Sarva Gurubhyo Namaha,
Namaskaram Vikram Swami and all Swami’s who has similar doubht as “…(a+b) why study & what is logic behind…….……….We use the Veda we study during the 1st year till date where as the English education we study in 1st standard not used till date…………..”,
Velukkudi Swami has just said in Enpani #1753 that everyone need not know every answer. May be, that could be one of the reason that the above Deekshidhar or any other Spiritual Orators may not be able to answer, since their area of SPECIALIZATION is NOT FULL SHASTRAS, it could be some portion of Karma Kandam or some portion of Brahmam Kandam. More details as below.
With Acharya ThiruvAdi Bhalam and Velukkudi Swami’s Aasirvadham / Abhimaanam, clubbing Swami’s Upanyasams and doing some research on multiple sources, adiyen would like to CONNECT THE DOTS.
Actually everything that we use in our day to day life is all from Vedas whether in Sansksrit or English or other ancient Languages like Greek, Latin just format is different to suit that language. But some of the present Spiritual Oratars don’t reveal this to all devotees for some reason. Not sure why?. Bascially, the fundamental is anything in this World cannot exist if it is not in Vedas.
Vedas has two sections :
- Karma Kandam, deals with Bodily activities but leads to the second portion of vedas which is the Brahmam kandam
Karma Kaandam = Materialistic Studies.
- BrahmAm Kandam, deals with Athma and BrahmaAm (Sriman NarayanA) and Moksham. We have enough of GRanthams from our Poorvacharyas with Swami Ramanujar Grace.
Brahmam Kaandam = Spiritual Studies.
The present English studies are just translated format change only from Sanskrit to fit our Tamas Buddhi, since we are not capable of understanding the basic SANSKRIT or TAMIL GRAMMER to DECODE what the verse says inorder to apply the materialistic things in our life, SO our Present Materialistic studies in English is same as Karma Kandam of Vedas which is BhagavAn’s karunai to help ignorant souls like us.
Supporting Information’s:
Like Artha Shastra which is Upa Anga of Vedas deals with – Science of Economics and Politics. Management, Administration, human psycology & economics- Associated with Atharvana.
Also Vaasthu Shastra is “Science of Construction”, deals with Temple Architecture, in present day it is the Civil Engineering and Shilpa Shastra deals with arts design craft design on the main structures….. Normally we have been drifted so much that we think Vaasthu Shastra” means just related to vaasthu of the home alone, but it is actually an ancient Indian ‘Architectural Science’ that lays down rules for the design and construction of buildings and how to bring about harmony between man, nature and his built environment
As an example below, answers are available after doing some research from multiple sources of Blogs and clubbing with Swami’s Upanyasams with Acharya ThiruvAdi Bhalam and Velukkudi Swamis Aasrivadham/Abhimaanam,
- The Pythagoras Theorem in Greek originally by Pythagoras who lived around 500 BC. and translated in English later:
a^2 + b^2 = c^2, the square of the hypotenuse of a right triangle is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.
where ‘c’ represents the length of the hypotenuse, and ‘a’ and ‘b’ represent the lengths of the other two sides..
Q: Why do we need this theorem?
A: We need it for Building construction, no choice Vaasthu Shastram.
- Next is Kannayanar Tamil Poet who wrote the song 1500 BC which talks about the recent Pythagoras theorem.
Honestly, do we understand this slokam. May be little bit correct?, so we need to learn Pythagoras theorem, no choice, since it is easy to understand due to our Tamas Buddhi and it is very necessary for building construction in this practical world.
Let’s evaluate Kannayanar Poem, consider:
Height, a = 3,
Length, b = 4
then what is ‘c’ Slope =?
- ஓடிய நீளந்தண்ணை ஒரெட்டில் கூறாக்கி means divide the length into 8 parts
so, 4/8 (b/8) = 0.5
- கூறதில் ஒன்றைத் தள்ளி, means length minus 1/8 portion
so, 4-0.5 (b – b x (1/8) )= 3.5
- குன்றத்தில் பாதி சேர்த்தால் means ½th of Height,
so, 3 X ½ (a x ½) = 1.5
- நீடிய கர்ணர்தானே, means equals to slope
so, 3.5 + 1.5 = 5 (= c), which is present Pythagoras theorem.
Hence, it is proved.
- Next is Baudhāyana Sulba Sūtra, the Original Sanskrit Source of this Theorem which states the rule referred to today in most of the world as the Pythagore-an Theorem. The rule was known to a number of ancient civilizations, including also the Greek and the Chinese, and was recorded in Mesopotamia as far back as 1800 BCE. For the most part, the Sulbasūtra-s do not contain proofs of the rules which they describe.
The rule stated in the Baudhāyana Sulba Sūtra is:
दीर्घचतुरश्रस्याक्ष्णया रज्जु: पार्श्र्वमानी तिर्यग् मानी च यत् पृथग् भूते कुरूतस्तदुभयं करोति ॥
dīrghachatursrasyākṣaṇayā rajjuḥ pārśvamānī, tiryagmānī,
cha yatpṛthagbhūte kurutastadubhayāṅ karoti.
Honestly, do we understand this slokam. NO correct?, so we need to learn Pythagoras theorem, no choice, since it is easy to understand due to our Tamas Buddhi and it is very necessary for building construction in this practical world.
Meaning: A rope stretched along the length of the diagonal produces an area which the vertical and horizontal sides make together.
The diagonal and sides referred to are those of a rectangle, and the areas are those of the squares having these line segments as their sides. Since the diagonal of a rectangle is the hypotenuse of the right triangle formed by two adjacent sides, the statement is seen to be equivalent to the Pythagorean theorem.
Baudhāyana also provides a statement using a rope measure of the reduced form of the Pythagorean theorem for an isosceles right triangle:
The cord which is stretched across a square produces an area double the size of the original square.
Did we just Study Mathematics in Dharma Sandeha, or Vedic Study applicable to Dharma Sandeha. So, CONCLUSION is there is only One study called Vedic study, just format is different either in English or Tamil or Sanskrit depending up on the cicumstances and what our Buddhi can perceive.
Adiyens Honest Opinion is, some of the Spiritual Orators propel some or large amount of Dvehsam towards Materialistic studies due to being in English, when they are aware that the present English studies is already same CONTENT/INTENT as in Sanskrit or some are not even aware of this scenerio, due to their specialization being in other areas of Vedas. The Best Positive way to consider is, “BhagavAn with HIS KArunai is giving the same Materialistic study in a much usable format due to Kali Yuga being Tamasik Yuga, so that people can understand it as it uses less grammer and requires less knowledge to learn to suit our basic needs”, but to decode a Sanskrit verse like Bodhayana sootram or even Tamil verse of Kannayannar for a^2+b^=c^2, we need some basic or In-depth skill of knowing that language grammar and fundamentals. Since we don’t have that background from childhood, we have to accept that the same content of Vedas is provided in English format by BhagavAn as an example with Pythagoras Theorem. This is the proper way of Positive Thinking and not thinking in a way as Europe copied Sanskrit studies. So, everything that we see around Globe is ALL from VEDAS ONLY, which we (Sanatana Dharmis) should start accepting it first, even if we don’t know answers for all at this moment.
The reason why Acharyas or Mahans also say stay out of materialism is because, though it is a portion of Vedas, that portion is meant for the Body (Karma Kaandam of Vedas) and not for the Athma & BrahmaAm & Moskham (Uttra Kaandam of Vedas). Any Acharya or Spiritual Guru though says Athma is important, we cannot eliminate the Materialistic studies since their home construction or anything that we use are done by someone or by ourselves who is involved in this Karma Kaandam (Materialistic study) of Vedas knowingly or unblinkingly whether in Sanskrit Format or English format or any other Language format, with the content being same with few examples that we are aware of as in above post. So Acharyas don’t deny materialism Totally (Basic things in Materialism is needed), but they only curtail us if our involvement is too much in Materialism, as it will end up in Bodily Sukham, which inturn swirl into high possibility of we drifting away from the Portion of the Vedas (Upanishadhs) that focus on the Athma Ujjivanam & BrahmaM (Sriman NarayanA) and Moksham.
So it is better to learn the basic English studies (Physics , Mathematics etc…) that is needed for our life, since in this Kali Yuga, the Vedic Karma Kaandam in SANSKRIT is not going to show up in near centuries till the transition from Kali to Tretha Yuga happens, and we should keep a mind-set that, even if someone (teacher) is not answering why pi is 22/7 etc…., it doesn’t mean there is no answer or logic, there is definitely answer, it is just that we did not have an opportunity to get the answer, either because the teacher is not aware of it, or some other reason.
Based on this thread responses, adiyen will refer why Pi=22/7 and how it is from Vedas at a later time with Acharya ThiruvAdi Bhalam and Velukkudi Swami’s Aasirvadham based on the research that adiyen did from Blogs and other sources..
