Namaskaaram.
I have a doubt in connection with this topic.

It pertains to definition of Brahmin. Some say it’s based on birth, and some say it’s based on nature ie, gunam, irrespective of birth lineage – I think there may be references for both.

As far as I know, Shri Dronacharya decided that Sh Karnan is not Brahmin and he is a Kshatriya, as he was able to withstand the pain of beetle penetrating his thigh (unusual character or feature for a Brahmin), and ensured Acharya’s sleep does not get disturbed.

It will be useful to know and learn, on what basis, Shri Dronacharya decided the varnam of Sh Karnan.
