Actually people like Jaggi Vasudev says anyone can participate in sports. Sports unite while religions divide. In this logic they say matham lesser than sports Swamy.

What one considers ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, ‘logical’ and ‘illogical’ and other discrimination depends on the predominating gunam of the trigunams one is situated in. Those who are in satva gunam, their discrimination in based on sastram and is aimed at eternal good. Those who are in rajo gunam their discrimination is based on material life considerations – what appeals to to be good to the senses in the present. Those who are in tamo gunam their discrimination makes them think the opposite of sastric knowledge is correct.

Based on what we learn as sastric knowledge from our Swamy (and other such sastrically authoritative teachers) we can easily identify in what gunam these ‘popular personalities’ such as the one whom you have cited are predominantly situated in.

It is okay to ask our swamy questions based on principles. But it is not okay to ask him to comment about specific personalities or their opinions.

—————-

Let me please epress my opinion on the statement referenced by you:

If the word ‘Religion’ is understood to mean “a set of regulations and guidelines that help individuals progress in their journey to reach God’, then religion is not dividing. It unifies every soul as a part of God, approaching HIm through different stages and paths.

But if the word ‘religion’ is understood to be a denomination of people who follow a certain set of  cultural practices that distinguishes them from other such groups, then religion is not good. note, this definition does not mention about God or eternal life. No wonder this popular personality is said to have made a statement like this; because as far as I understand, they don’t have a guru-sishya paramparai; so they don’t have a philosophy. There is no ‘god’; only a symbolism of ‘god’ to refer to the ‘energy’.

So it is wise on our part to practise discrimination and seek knowledge only from sastric authorities.

—

It is surprising that people think sports is unifying. It unifies only people of a certain group (team supporters / fans) but it causes rift between members / supporters of opposite teams. This is true even for the (second) definition of religion above. How can they see only ‘religious’ riots and not sports riots?

Also, sports divides people in a stupid way! CSK and MI; neither the players are from chennai or mumbai; they may  not even be from India. One person from one team can move to the other any year. Still people divide themselves as fans of this team or that team! utterly stupid!

let us practise discrimination. Vivekam.

adiyen.

Srimathe Ramanujaaya Namaha!

Namaskaaram Swami,

One interesting thing about devareer’s reply is, our Velukkudi swami said the exact same thing in the ‘Spiritual Development Programme (SDP) for Youth’. I am listening to SDP for a few days, and our swami also cleared some myths about ‘religion dividing people’.

Glad to read this, swami.

adiyen dasan.

Thank you for this message swamy.

This shows the power of acharyas! Their speech penetrates our heart and lights jnanam there.

When I wrote the above reply I didn’t remember the source of the knowledge; but it had penetrated my heart and stayed there despite my poor capabilities.

Na Venumney dhan sonnen. I did not ask , it was NOT A QUESTION but registered a view of huge fan follower who has top personality invited to their opening ceremony of Adi Yogi statue.

“It is okay to ask our swamy questions based on principles. But it is not okay to ask him to comment about specific personalities or their opinions”

Yes I am Jaggi Vasudev sishya & not Velukkudi Sishya.

By the way this was a general topic of EnPaNi not about Perumal alone so it is bound for open discussion.

Your answers will break the myth. Those reading this thread in Dharma Sandeha will come to know what religion is all about

Those searching in Google will get to know what our real culture is.

Adiyen can argue “In search of God” is spiritualism not necessariily “Religion” let me not dilute the discussion though.

The context was, in sports, anyone can participate irrespective of caste or creed example Cricket eg: CSK, Mi like devareer said including foreigners.

In foot ball even the audience fight. Football is a religion for Brazillians like Cricket is considered religion of Indians.

We are not here to say sports is bad , religion is good nor Religion is bad sports is good.

Our Swamy is highlighting the unequal comparison. Not the entity itself

=> Sri Ram played Sokkattan with Sita Piratti
=> Sita Piratti used to play with flower balls during her childhood
=> Sri Krishna his entire creation is play thing

Can anyone become Hindu and start searching God? How religion unites please eloborate your thoughts on these lines.

Some foreigners say “We are okay on spiritualism not on religion, we don’t like the rituals. ”

So is religion universal?

@Kambabdasan Swamy
Not getting this line
“let us practise discrimination. Vivekam”
Our Swamy has said on Varna, “It is distinguishing not discrimination”
Please explain

Vikram swamy, please forgive me; I do agree your questions are genuine and good questions. But almost all of them have been discussed repeatedly on this forum. I honestly don’t have the time now to simply repeat already discussed topics just because you say “nAn summAthAn vEnumnEy ketEn”.

Also, since you have declared you are JV’s sishya and not Velukkudi Swamy’s sishyaa, I don’t think the philosophy I subscribe to and the answers I may give will be agreeable to you. And I am not keen to go on a ‘for fun’ debate on syntax of words back and forth.

I am unable to carry this discussion forward.

Ok Swamy devareer is forgiven. Please continue devareer’s discussion with intellectual people.

Ramayanam & Mahabharatam discussed million times in this forum. No need to discuss those as well just a reminder.

Why Nava graha topics discussed in EnPaNi multiple times?
Why Youth program topic resurfacing in EnPaNi ?
Why Sharanagathi discussed multiple times in EnPaNi?
Why Kambandasan Swamy is/was quiet for all those repetition? Swamy kitta solla vendiyadhu dhaney, Swamy already discussed in Dharma Sandeha, why repeat?

Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy once told:
” Na enna pudhusa solla poren?”

Devareer ku repetition bore adikardha? Illa adha kekkarava mela bore adikkardha?

Na Venumney kaeten nu sonnen
Summa kaeten nu sollala

It sounded as if I was opposing Swamy’s views & anchoring on JV’s views. Look Swamy in today’s world logical explanation holds more importance

I am playing devil’s advocate “poorva paksham”.

Crowd fulla Anga dhan pogum
Today’s youth is mis-directed

En Guru sonnar nu yevanum follow pandradhu illa

Thaan romba budhisaali nu nenanchundrukkugal adiyenai madhiri

This is was an important topic, I felt.

Our highlight of this sampradhayam is
VishnOr Dharmam SanAthanam
Oldness is it’s greatness
