I feel this is not an appropriate question, as process of questioning (Guru Ramanujar’s act) contradicts the the very question you are trying to raise..
The question is based on the principle that the student is always subservient to his Guru, so raising this question contradicts this very same principle.
Better not to get into such dangerous areas..

Yes Swamin Yadavaprakasar was guru of Sri Udayavar for advaita or special advaita which had some personal contents from yadavaprakasar, but later yadavaprakasar realized his mistake and ‘wanted’ to be sishya of vishishtadhvaita from udayavar who was a previous guru but if a guru requests something even if its being your sishya to his disciple if disciple is most enlightened soul (Aamudhalvar) , Would Udayavar consider saying no ?
Did Sandhipani make a request to be his shishya?
So does enlightenment define a guru sishya Sampandham?
A person may have many gurus at different levels.

For example when sandhipani requested Krishna to bring back his deceased son from the dead , Is it a dharma to bring back someone from dead? But Krishna did do it Swamin.
