It is true that Atma is superior as compared to Bhuddi and manam, Atma as per the definition is Gynana- Ananda Swaroopan whereas Bhuddi and Manam are only Karavi( Tools) to think and make a firm resolve in carrying out a task through indriyas. However the effulgence of the Atma, the Gynanam is of the Atma directed through Bhuddi and Manam. Now coming back to your question, Atma however knows its potential and all, but unfortunately due to past lifes Karmas and the present life karma Vasanas, with Rajas and tamas in excess as compared to Satva Gunam, its effulgence is hid which unfortunately gives Deha-Atma Abhimanam ( body and soul one and the same and arrogance coming out of ignorance), this is the reason that Atma is unable to realize its full potential.

But don’t  worry nothing is impossible when there is Acharyan and Divya Dampathis Anugraham, when surrendered seriously unto their Lotus feet certainly would get help and will carry out the soul above from the misery of this Samsara.
