Swami what you are doing is right..but when we do so we should feel sorry for them and instead give them some fruits or other snacks prasadam for their dinner party( without telling them it is prasadam)..and by the devotion which the snacks prasadam was prepared..they will get satisfied and eventually they will appreciate you..
But we should be impeccably good in our work and interaction during work..then they will have no choice but to get pleased.. but there will always be some odd cases , they are designed to bring out a devotee’s glories so that others who are sincere will see how a devotee tolerates such persons as well.
If you are pleasing Krishna you are pleasing everyone..so dont worry..

Perumal said “you are here not to please them; not to please yourself. You are here to please Me. The way to please me is to do your dharma properly without doership mentality, without enjoyer mentality, without ownership mentality. Do everything for My pleassure. I will take care of all your papam etc. Summne worry mada beda! Ashte!!”
