Namaskarams to Swamy and Bhagavathas,

Adiyen had a question on a ritual practiced during Sri vaishnava marriage ceremony. The father / parents of the bride wash the feet of the groom considering him to be Sriman Narayana himself. Whereas in other Hindu sects it is the bride and the groom who wash the feet of their parents in gratitude. This practice seems to be more practical and meaningful than the former. Why this difference?
I believe that till date some of our practices encourage the belief that somehow being male or giving birth to a male is akin to being superior in some way. This can ultimately result in daily life problems such as parents and in laws not getting along well leading to disharmony in marital life.
If everyone was always immersed in sat vishayam this would not be the case, but since that is rare, is there a solution to these issues?

Keeping aside the technicalities, logically speaking what’s wrong?

The bridegroom gets the respect for the last legal day in his life ?

Jokes apart,
In our Sampradhayam , bhAvam is everything. BhAvam means emotion. Ramanujar showed us the same while getting mud prasAdham from children

How come such old be so humble to little children?

Here age does not matter in certain cases. If Upanyasakar is younger still elders fall on the floor it’s for the context of Upanyasam.

Similarly during shrAddham..The one who is Vishnu is Vishnu regardless of age.

Coming to gender equality every male has a mother so no question women always superior than men
