For further query the answer is already there in adiyen’s above post with Acharya ThiruvAdi Bhalam and Velukkudi Swami’s Aasirvadham Abhimaanam as:
“Perumal’s Avataram is not limited to DasaAvataram, HE takes innumerable Poorna avatars. Why because? as said by Poorvacharyas as உடையவனுக்கு பல முழுக்கு, உடமைக்கு ஒரு முழுக்கு.”
So the devotees should ask a question to themselves on how to consolidate innumerable BhagavAn’s Poorna Avatars in a list of just 10. Is it possible? No correct?. so if one makes a list of 10 avatars, then some other avatars of BhagavAn has to be skipped correct?. So Each one may have their own 10 list only.
Moreover, there is no mention of the term “Dashavatara” in Puranas. This is a very modern term coined by the Bhakti Poet Jayadeva. So He included BhagavAN’s poorna Avatars plus the other two JeevathMA Avatars (Parashuram & Balaram) in his 10 list based on his Vaasana’s/Ruchi due to his mixture of three gunas Satva/Rajas/Tamas. He, in his Ashtapadi had written about the Dashavatars, hence making this concept very famous. Its his liking and people who wanted to consider it are are following it.

People who has affinity towards others Jeevathma’s actions, let them adhere to it and make it popular as seen in the practical world, but when such list interferes with Oran Vazhi GuruParamparai Acharyas list based on Shastras, then those lists will the restructured to its original state with list of Poorna Avatars of BhagavAn only.
That’s why Parashuram/Balaram idol is seen in general Sanatana Dharma Hindu temples, but won’t be seen in higher level Nishkrishta Vesham temples.

One may like Hayagreeva primarily, one may like Varaha primarily, one may like Narasimha primarily, one may like Rama primarily, one may like Krishna primarily etc…. It is their own Shishtacharam to do BhagavAt Anubhavam and None of Poorvacharyas has a dedicated 10 list of Perumals Avatars. They pray all Poorna Avatars and skip all other Avesha avatars. That’s why adiyen said in the above earlier post as “Every Acharya and the lineage adorns every Poorna avatar of ParaVasudevan, but due to our limited Time and Shakthi in this world, we pray whichever few Poorna Avatars are close to our heart. It’s ones own liking.” Swami Ramanujar, Swami Vedanta Desikar, Swami Manavaala Maamunigal were Hayagreeva Upasakars for Gyanam.

Yes, Dhanvantri, Buddha are also Poorna Avatar, but under this Poorna Avatar, there is a sub classification as “Leela Avatar” meant for a specific purpose only.
- Dhanvantri came from the Samudhra Mandhanam (Churning of Milk Ocean) who is the BHagavAn of Auyurveda like Hayagreeva is BhagavAn of Knowledge who si the Guru of Saraswathi. Praying Dhanvantri will give us good health ONLY to utilize this body as a Tool to do Kainkaryam to BhagavAn. So the specific purpose of this avatar is to give us good health and not related to Athma Ujjivanam and Kainkaryam & Moksham. So it may be possible that Achrayas though consider Dhanvantri as BhagavAn’s poorna avatar, but don’t propagate it too much since we will end up in just asking health related stuffs and miss the Athma related stuffs, since Dhavantri BhagavAN doesn’t cater about Kainakryam and Moksham.
- Buddha is also Poorna avatar of BhagavAn but meant for a special leela avatar purpose only. THis BUddha is not the recent Gautama BUddha, he is a different some saint. Anyway, Atharvana Veda has some portion like “Abhicharaka Karmas“ , basically doing Black Magic, Billi-Soonyam etc to bring enemies down, but people like Asuras who drink alchohol, eat meat, misused the Atharvana vedas for their benefit to bring down devas and caused destruction. So BhagavAn had to take a Special Purpose Avatar like Buddha to mesmerize teh Asuras by saying everything in Vedas is wrong, so that the Asuras can stop eating meat, stop alchohol, and reduce the effect of their BUddhi, so that they cannot chant Atharvana Vedas, hence the destruction doen by Asuras can be nullified. So Acharyas though understand Buddha is BhagavAn himself, they don’t propagate it, since Buddha Avatar doesn’t cater about Kainkaryam and Moksham which is the purpose of our life, as Buddha Avtar was meant to address special people like Asuras. Hence the Buddha Philosophy though says, we should be Peaceful, no Praani Himsai, it is correct and already in our Sanatana Dharmam, but in-depth we cannot follow the Buddha Philosophy as it will reveal Vedas are not to be followed. After a later time, there were no Asuras, but the ordinary people started following the Buddha Philosophy strongly as “Vedas are not be followed”, so BhagavAn again thought, when the purpose of Buddha AVatar is established already by nullifying Asura SHakthi, now it is time to regenerate the Vedic studies, which was carried out by Adhi SankaracharyAr rigorously that Vedas are True & BrahmAm is the final GOD by following Abedha Shruthi of Upanishadhs, which and later more refined by Swami Ramanujar by following “Kataka Shruthi” of Vedas/Upanishadhs. So the present Buddhism people are good people, sicn they follow the Peacefulness, no Praani Himsai (from the portion of Vedas), but they are not fully aware why Buddha Avatar was taken by BhagvAn in the past due to Asuras misusing the Atharvana Vedas.
Regarding DhattAtreya, it is not BHagavAn’s Poorna Avatar, it is “GunaAvatar” under the classification of “Amshaavatar”, like BhagavAn SriVishnu has embodied himself in Brahma & Shiva refelcting three gunas Rajas, Satva & Tamas. Hence Dhattatreya is three faced with Brahm, Vishnu, Shiva. So Acharyas focus on Suddha Satvam Poorna Avatars only who caters about Kainakryma and Moksham only. May be that could be reason why in south side, Dhattreya is not followed much.
Also please note in NORTH India, Praying DhattAtreya is very famous within General Sanatana Dharma devotees, but there is also a more deeper SriVAishanas who follow One faced Dhatta “Ek Mukhi Dhatta” , just Satva Vishnu only. The Ek Mukhi Dattatreya temple is very ancient – almost 800 years old. Situated near the Vengurla town, this idol is said to have been brought from Narsimavadi. The idol here is one-headed, with four hands. There is yet another ancient temple in Kolhapur, situated inside the premises of the Vitthala temple near Mirajkar Tikatti.
The Ek Mukhi Datta temple of Narayanpur, Pune, is also very popular. This one is located at the bottom of the Purandar fort.

Means, just Follow What Shastras has Shown us Through our PoorvAcharyas, is what Swami Ramanujar has shown us through our PoorvAcharyas, since all the ANALYSIS WAS ALREADY DONE BY SWAMI RAMANUJAR and we don’t need to REINVENT THE WHEEL, since Swami Ramanujar makes our life easier while in this Samsaram plus gives Kainkaryam and Moksham in this Janma. So SriKrishna says in BhagavAt Gita as “MaSuchahA (Dont Worry)“. Hence we don’t need to worry about any 10 list floating around.
