The above question is not very practically relevant so i may not raise it normally.. But it was asked by my niece to me during discussion of 1st chapter of Bhagavat Gita.. So  I said i will check with others and update.

Finally got the answer for this question in Hari Vamsam Audio 85 (number in enpani app).

While trying to Bring back Sandeepamuni’s son, Krishna fights a Asura called Panchajan. The conch born in the sea and later grew in Panchajan’s body was later acquired by Krishna. So it is called Paanchajanya.

Hope i heard it correctly, if otherwise, those who hear the above audio can correct it.
