My wife is undergoing 3 days of mensus period now. 2 comments came from my mother, which I would like to clarify with our esteemed Srivaishnava Bagavathas here. I am doing this only to try and move away from unnecessary sentiments (if at all they are) concentrating only on bakthi/kainkaryam. Not to question my mother. My wife is also ready to practice those if it is the right thing to do. So please forgive me, if you feel the questions are not appropriate.
1. My wife just crossed the puja room when I was doing Thiruvaradhanam. The room is middle of the hall and opposite to Main Door, so crossing is inevitable. Mother said she should not even cross the room while Pooja Room is open. So, should she confine herself to a room till the Pooja Room is Open?
2. I was taking Thulasi while my wife was sitting few feet away. But my mother says women should not see Thulasi during mensus period. I can understand about touching Thulasi, but to even see Thulasi is a sin?
