Regarding offering prasadam to Krishna

Swami
I live in a country where it’s winter and 0deg outside. It’s very cold outside and inside the home also. Sometimes it’s too cold to take shower. Is it okay to offer prasadam to god just by washing face and hands? Or is it compulsory to take shower?

Srimathe Ramanujaya Namah, Sri Sriranga Narayana Jeeyar Swamigale Saranam, Sri Velukkudi Swamigal Thiruvadigale Saranam,

Namaskaaram Saranya Amma, adiyen too live in a cold place, where it’s mostly below freezing outside during most of the winter. But given the modern facilities we have, it’s warm inside and gets hot water for the shower. Without any of these modern facilities, our alwars and acharyas went thru the Himalayas, followed the acharam at the highest level, and withstood the force of nature with the help of Perumaal. adiyen understand that we are nowhere near them. In devareer’s case, if some of the above-said facilities are available then we should try our best to follow the procedure to the best possible.

Swami: If the above answer is not correct, kshamikka prarthikkiren

Adiyen agrees with Badri swamy’s reply. We can try and practise the prescribed system as strictly as possible.

In case the situation is such that it is cold inside the house also and getting hot water is not easy, then (I think) it is okay to offer to Perumal as such. In Bhagavad Gita 9.26 He emphasises that He accepts our offering on strength of our devotion. So, DEVOTION is the key here. Being clean (by taking bath) is one of the ways of expressing our devotion. But if the circumstances are not suitable, taking bath is not critical.

In case of Sabari, she was asked to stay in the ashram until Lord Rama comes and serve Him. She followed the instruction to perfection. In this case, Lord accepted her offering because He only saw her devotion.

So, let us practise with as much devotion as possible in our heart. Keeping ourselves clean is just one aspect of devotion.

“In case of Sabari, she was asked to stay in the ashram until Lord Rama comes and serve Him. She followed the instruction to perfection. In this case, Lord accepted her offering because He only saw her devotion”

What Sabari example got to do with this acharam anushtanam?

If adiyen remember she was epitome of achara anushtanam “Thirukkudanthai Andavan Ramayana upanyAsam”.

Please explain why Devareer referred Sabari mata?

Vikram swamy,

I mentioned her example because she tasted the fruit first and gave it to the Lord. Normally uchchistam is considered ‘unclean’; we do not offer anything unclean to Perumal. In thought her example shows how Perumal ignores even the ‘unclean’ aspect because her devotion is far superior.

With this perspective I used cited her example. Kindly forgive me if it is inappropriate.

No issues Swamy
According to Thirukkudanthai Andavan Swamigal Sabari did not give ucchishtam. Aa she was doing kainkaryam to Acharya she knows this.

If I remember correctly, she validated the fruit acceptable to Perumal or not.

Want to remind one story

One mahaan put shaligramam in mouth. Another seeing this said “apachAram”

Perumal came in another’s dream & said “I like only his mouth”
Exception are not examples.

Point here us ❤️ towards our creator mother. That is more important.

Not the patAtOpam.
