Srimate Ramanujaye Namaha,
Jayaram swamy, there are 2 parts to your question and Swami has answered them in various enpani audios/upanyasams about these 2 aspects.
Those who do Samashrayanam are given the best opportunity to develop Love of Krishna and to return back, (with all the past karma being waived off) But Swami says depending on how one uses this opportunity one may return back to kingdom of God in this life or may take 1 or 2 lives extra.
Secondly, Swami has explained that doing shraddam is obedience to Perumaal’s instruction/system and to please him by being obedient, so it is not that the departed soul is dependent on shraddam (as in the example you had indicated). Swami explained that it is to be done as a matter of duty.

Srimate Ramanujaye Namaha,
Some time ago in another thread , you had asked about characteristics of a vaisnava..swami has covered this in mahabharata audio (219 number in enpani app) where Krishna is narrating vaishnava dhramam to Yudhistirar.
( in second half from 7th minute..but the first 6 minutes is another interesting nice story as well..so you can hear fully😊)

enpanifan swamy,
Thanks for the explanation on Srardham.
Of late, I am listening to mahabharata audio also in Youtube / enpani. Since, I have not subscribed, I am able to listen with a lag. Today, I listened part 210. I will listen to part 219 later on. Thanks for providing information.

enpanifan swamy,
I listened to part 219 of mahabharata audio. Lord Krishna clearly mentioned that treating everyone equally is one of vaishnava dhramam. That means a Vaishnavite is expected to treat everyone equal and he should not avoid others. This was the point I mentioned in the thread
Thank you for pointing out the reference.
