Your question is absolutely valid.

However, think of in other way… (we assume)..

We have to think of how to encounter such things with brave / courage… henceforth… We should not let any thing or anyone to down our community/society or our country or our elite Sanathana Dharma… at any cost… This is what we should learn and try to protect our community as a responsible member.

We must have the courage to go to any extent to overcome (to protect our Sanathana Dharma and the followers) such encounters… Think of our poorva aAcharyars on their effort in protecting our perumal and assets…

So, Being sattvic will not serve any purpose (mute spectators)…. So, all must be vigilant (cumulatively) and “Arise”, “Awake” and “Stop Not till our Dharma is restored”

We take part actively in creating awareness, among our community( friends/colleagues/relatives..), of our Sanathana Dharma principles .. At least, I happen to forward our Swamigal’s Enpani Audios, links of Sri Velukkudi Discourses upanyasams, share the fliers of Swamigal / others’ upanyasam details etc.,,, kinchit kainkaryam as much as possible to make awareness among our community..

Try to participate in restoring utsavams, pooja etc., in our temples in anyway (donate / organize, arrange etc.), 

Wear our identity marks (Urdhva Pundra / Thiruman Srichurnam or Viboothy (for Sivaties) etc., Do not be shy… Of course, it is fortunate to wear all these identities…

So, follow your anushtanangal wherever you are in (be in India or overseas)…

If we all unite and do/follow these then the opposition (who are acting against our Sanadhana dharma) will be subdued….  If we grow stronger in propping up our Dharma, the weaker the opposition become…..

Because, it is not “we” that are protecting this Dharma, but “He (Bhaghawan)” is protecting this Dharma…. He is just testing us on how we react to those opposition.. He will extend His arm to support you in your effort.

At least, we do our part as much as we can….

Pinnacle of contradictions, Swamy!

The main goal of our Sanatana dharma is to elevate us to the platform of satvam through cultivation of satva gunam in all aspects of our life.

Here you are saying we should not follow satva gunam; and you are also saying by becoming more rajogunam and tamo gunam (‘vigilant’) we can restore sanatana dharma which guides us to cultivate satva gunam!

And then, in the following passage you list all activities and practices (practicing our tradition with faith) which requires satva gunam to do so, and which nurtures satva gunam more, the more we practise these traditions. The loop of contradictions is self-evident.

I haven’t watched the movie; I have watched the trailer; in that there is one point where the Krishna character tells the elderly character (played by Anupam Kher) “if one is pushed to the extreme, he will pick up arms and turn to be an extremist”, and the elderly character retorts “but the Pandits didn’t do so”.

Because, the Pandits come from a tradition of Sanatana dharma which nurtures satva gunam.

All this I write only to request you to kindly re-evaluate the sentence “being sattvic will not serve any purpose”.

By the way, being “mute spectator” because of indifference or out of fear of losing possessions or position in material life, is tamo gunam, not satva gunam.

On the other hand, if someone is tolerating the difficult situation for a higher purpose, with focus on the eternal life, and waiting for the right time for most effective action (eg. Sage Narada tolerating the atrocities of Hiranyakashipu and using the time to instruct Prahalada) is satva gunam.

In many instances, if we don’t analyse the underlying factors and simply go by the external appearance, satva gunam and tamo gunam may appear to be similar externally.
