Vikram swamy, namaskaram.
Each one of us has to do our duty. For bhakthas it is part of their kainkaryam to speak about Perumal. Please refer to Bhagavad Gita 10.9, 12.20, 18.68-69.
Even when we look at the history, acharyas have spoken and written about Perumal extensively, and worked so very hard to establish Ramanuja darshanam without any room for doubt in the hearts of (beginning-) bhakthas.
The key point here is, they are not doing this to “collect more followers”; it is not that kind of “preaching”. Rather, they are simply speaking the glories of Perumal and the glories of the ultimate path for salvation because doing so pleases Perumal. And such pure speech is naturally purifying for even those who chance to hear it and we get drawn back into our original sanathana dharma.
In contrast, the other kind of “preaching” mainly focuses on speaking ill about others and bribing with material benefits. Our acharyas never do that. Our acharyas offer only such help which will genuinely help the recipient to get close to the ultimate goal of life.
To answer the second question, we are not rescuing Rangan; He is rescuing us from getting our mind trapped in material concerns, by giving us a ‘spiritual concern’ by apparently placing himself in danger.; through that he engages us in His service which is very important for us.
A simple example. What if He says He will eat only food prepared by our Thayar or His Thayar and nobody else. If He says so we will have no scope of preparing food for him, and we can not get any prasadam also! So, by accepting food prepared by us, he is not dependent on us; rather we are dependent on Him for such service; without such service our existence will be meaningless.
