Yes, you can keep stone Krishna vigraham at home
Yes, you should do pratistha properly.
You can keep any size but since, you are keeping vigraham in home, it is adviced to keep small size
vigraham as it would be easier and convenience to do thiruvaradhanam
Note: don’t forget to do thiruvaradhanam and bhog offer

பிரதிஷ்டை செய்யப்படாத வரை அது சிலை / பொம்மை / idol. பிரடிஷ்டை செய்ய பட்ட பிறகு அவர் விக்ரகம் / அர்ச்சா-அவதாரம் / Deity.
அழகான சிலைகள் ஆயிரம் வைத்துக்கொள்ளலாம்; அவை பகவானை நமக்கு நினைவூடும். மனதும் வீடும் அமைதியாக இருக்கும். நாம் ஆண்மீகத்தில் ஆழ்ந்திருக்க உதவும்.
பிரதிஷ்டை என்று செய்து விட்டால், அவருக்கு வேண்டிய கைங்கர்யங்களை அவ்வப்போது செய்தாக வேண்டும். நாள் தவறாமல் சரியான நேரத்தில் சரியான முறையில் ஆராதனம் செய்து கண்டருளல் செய்ய வேண்டும். வீடு எப்போழுதும் சுத்தமாக இருக்க வேண்டும். மேலும் ஒருமுறை பிரதிஷ்டை செய்து விட்டால் பின் ‘undo’ செய்ய இயலாது. தங்கள் காலத்திற்கு பின்னும் தங்கள் பரம்பரையில் வருவோர் இந்த அர்ச்சா-அவதாரத்திற்கு தகுந்த கைங்கர்யங்கள் செய்து வர வேண்டும்.
இவற்றை எல்லாம் சிந்தித்து முடிவெடுக்கவும்.
பொதுவாக நம்மை போன்று வெகுவாழ்க்கையில் ஈடுபட்டுக்கொண்டு ஆண்மீகத்தில் ஆர்வமும் கொண்டிருப்பவருக்கு ஆச்சார்யன் மூலமோ மற்ற பெரியவர் மூலமோ கிடைக்கும் சாலிக்ராமம் ஆராதனையே உகந்தது. ஆச்சார்யனே முன்வந்து நமக்கு விக்ரகம் அருளினால் அது மேலும் சிறப்பு.
நாமாக ஆசைபட்டு விக்ரக வழிபாட்டில் ஈடுபட விரும்பினால், முதலில் ஆச்சார்யனை ஆலோசிப்பதே சரி.

Kamandandasan swamy, i agree true, it is better to consult one’s acharya.
Also i have seen pratishtai in temples, where they keep herbs, precious stones, yantras, etc below the seat of deity and do appropriate poojas etc before installation and also during Kumabhabhishekams.
What does a pratishtai at home involve, only Acharya’s blessings and permission or is there more additional procedure for that?

I believe, the place of Idol prathista, literally mean a temple. Whether one can have a temple in a living home?. How to maintain the sanctity after the idol prathista. I foresee lot of practical difficulties. Even, if it is allowed, in case for some unforeseen circumstances (sorry to say), if the house is required to be sold, what is the situation?. The buyer may have a second thought.
I think one can consider, if there is enough empty space adjacent to the house, a small temple with idol. Only a wild thought. Practical feasibility is to be thought of.

Jayaram swamy as i wait for answers for my above questions.. Pratishtai at home is not like a moolavar, but like a utsavar. If the residents change home, they can carry the diety like a utsavar is done.
Yes truly agree with difficulties in maintaining sanctity, but that was the culture and heritage of our previous generations, many homes were maintained like temples.. that is the culture which we have lost now..

If prathista is not done it is only a idol or picture or wood even though it has the form or picture of peruman
Adiyen because of peruman blessings believe and continue to believe all these days that peruman is at my home and peruman is accepting my kainkeriam
But I have not done prathista to any of the pictures of peruman before which adiyen did thiruvaradhanai because of blessings of peruman all these days
Got confused whether the thiruvaradhanai adiyen did under the blessings of peruman is before a picture and there is no deity in the picture as adiyen did not do prathista

Yes you may take the above steps to get guidance from an acharaya.
But regarding your worry if all these days Perumaal did accept your neivedyams or not , can read the incident below.
“In one instance, in the streets (or river bank perhaps) of SriRangam some little children were playing with sand, creating a Temple, God and Prasadam. When Udayavar went by, the children walked up to Him and said ” Swami, Here is Your Perumal, Here is Perumal’s Prasadam, please accept this and they gave Him a fistful of sand (the pretend Prasadam). Udayavar uttered”Danyosmi”(Thank you) with grace and accepted the sand prasadam in His Kashayam.”

My perception is, Perumal is indeed pleased with your devotion and so He is arranging this sequence of discussion so that you can approach Him under proper guidance and shelter from an acharya.

There are many ancient temples without anyone to properly serve there even nce a day. If we are interested to serve such big archa avataras it is better to serve already manifested Ones rather than invoking more new manifestation.
The method of prathistai, the acharya will decide. I have heard of different methods from very very simple to highly elaborate methods. I’ll leave that to the experts and real authorities to decide.
