Namaskaram,
It is a well known and well-established practice to follow adhikAri bhedham in upanayanam and veda adhyayanam. There could be multiple reasons to have this ‘eligibility’ criterion which subsequently transforms to qualification. One of it could be to ensure that the shakthi of parA vAk veda shabdham has to be maintained pristine pure and ucharanam by only such persons after such fulfilment of requirements will only ensure that the benefits of veda shabdham is realised in its fullness. for eg., to get rain assuredly once when the varuna japam is completed chanting, it requires a great amount of nishtai on part of the person chanting, which is capable of being fulfilled only by certain people(adhikAree-s) after years of adhyayanam.
The question is with the availability of internet and many many texts of vedam are there on internet along with tutorials on recitation by many learned vAdhyAr-s where anyone across the globe can learn vedam how is it even possible to implement any rules for adhikAram. what is the relevance of discussing it? It may be said that if people are committing mistakes doesn’t mean the acts are absolved but can the (negative) impact of such distribution, teaching, learning of veda mantram online be measured or gauged eg., what happens if one distorts a line in Sri Rudram and repeats throughout his/her life? I’m not asking about regular vidhyarthi-s learning from their guru in skype/zoom etc., but about freely available and consumable materials including proper uccharanam/recitation teachings which can be used and followed by anyone that practically allows anyone to recite vedam. Also what about sharing the meaning of such mantra-s, it is also prone to be distorted.
