Srimathe Rangaramanuja Mahadesikaya Namaha
Srimathe Sri Varaha Mahadesikaya Namaha
Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy Thiruvadigaley Sharanam

Sri:

When Vibheeshana came after leaving everything , Valmiki put the padham “Sriman”.
Then Perumal coronated him as king of Lanka that’s a different story.

Also I have heard in Swamy’s upanyAsam, first think Perumal will do is to capture loka ishwaryam.

Does it mean Perumal wants us to be materialistically poor to become his true Bhaktha?

KoorathAzhwan Swamy also left his loka ishwaryam and deliberately became poor and found difficulty in daughter’s marriage

Ranga came in dreams and story continues….

Also Thirukkudanthai Andavan says when Sita when behind golden deer Ram was lost, When one goes behind Ram golden deer is lost

Swamy Desikan disregarded gold coin

What it actually means? True Sri Vaishnava should be materialistically poor then only Perumal will like?

True Sri Vaishnava should be materialistically poor then only Perumal will like? From vikraminside

This is not true! Then why would He have given unlimited wealth to Kuselar?

There are many examples of great Vaishnavas who have been guardians of great wealth in service to Perumal. And there have been examples of great Vaishnavas who have apparently been in utter poverty. Presence or absence of wealth is not going to affect one’s devotion in any way; only our attachment to wealth distracts us from devotion.

Perumal can make His devotee materially poor for two reasons:

  1. For those devotees who are sincerely trying to get close to Him but their material bindings are hindering them, He facilitates their journey by removing such hurdles.
  2. For those devotees who are already very deep devotees, (He chooses some of them) He chooses to use as examples of Vairagyam for others (like myself) to learn. Seeing these devotees (like Kuraththaazhwar) is a lesson for persons like myself.

If only wealthy people are devotees, then people will say “because their basic needs are taken care of they are following this religious practise as a time pass. For others it is important to make money; so religious practices are not important”.

If only poor people are devotees, then people will say, “because you have nothing you are begging so called God. We don’t have to do this because we already have enough”.

Both conceptions are wrong. That is why Perumal places His great devotees in all walks of life. Devotion alone counts and not any material factors (including wealth).
