Since this has not been answered, Let me share my understanding on this.
Beard or moustache makes one unclean easily if not well maintained and can push away by distraction away from sattvam. (as cleanliness is essential for Sattva Guna)
But for Kshatriyas, Sattvam is not the primary quality required, so they can keep.
Also exalted sanyaasis are beyond bodily absorption, so beard will not distract or affect them so they can also have if they choose to.

My mother once said “keeping moustache creates ahambhAvam so we should not keep”. Adiyen want to know shAstram viewpoint on it.
Muslims keep beard and sometimes shave moustache only and leave beard as it is.
We want to be clean shaved. During pregnancy we are allowed to grow beard and not shave.
Whereas if we shave beard and leave moustache it’s not accepted.
What devar mean by clean maintenance?
If we keep shikai it’s allowed. By clean I understand we should not touch as touching hair before or during Mangala kArya is not accepted
In sandhyA vandhanam there is a line where we need to touch shikai “ShikAyai vowshat”
Why touching shikai is allowed there?
