Swami,
NamaskAram!
We all keep witnessing an unnecessary hue and cry of political leaders, and leftists around ‘Manusmriti’ time and again.
But within the limits of my social acquaintances, I have seen many of us following either ‘Apastamba’s’ (by and large)’, ‘BaudhAyana’s’, ‘DrAhyAyana’s’ (SAmam), AsvalAyana (Rig), and several others, but none say they follow ‘Manusmriti’.
There are also scholarly arguments that Manusmriti was not preserved in its original form and there were some unacceptable add-ons to it later.
Adiyen’s question is “does Manusmriti really have any context in our life today?” Is it really infallible and unquestionable like ‘Sruti’ itself? Or is it a non-extant text?
