Namaskaram Swamy,

Me having a little spiritual inclination is because of hearing Swamy’s upanyasams since 2007. My heartfelt gratitude to him.
Though i am not 100% fit for Moksham, i have refined myself to some extent e.g. Tolerance.
But at times, i am meeting people with interest in this material life and don’t show any interest towards spirituality. There are compulsions to get into their track. Also, if i try to remain quiet and don’t want to talk, they think differently.
How to handle this kind of negative situations.
Also, this kind of situations are within the family circle and immediate relatives.

Dear Choodamani BhagavAta and ALL BhagavAtas, who are in similar situation,

 

Some elaborated answer with Sri Velukkudi Swami’s Arul and ACHARYA Krupai from different threads that adiyen posted before.

 

Sri Velukkudi Swami in an Acharyas Vaibhavam upanyasam says about Poorvachayars Vaarthaigal (holy words) to future BHaktas TO FOLLOW as much as posible in any circumstances, though it is really a tough task in this Kali YUga.

 

Adiyen will try to put together based on adiyens understanding from Swami’s Pravachanams.

 

 

 

1) Saha Bhojana Yogyar (சஹ போஜன யோக்யர்)

(Ahara Niyanamanam)

a) While cooking, think or chant or murmer about BHagavAN/Acharya Naamas to make the THaligai Sathvik. ANy other thinking while cooking will make the food Rajas/Tamas.

Ex: If one thinks about their family sorrow or thinks vengence about someone and cooks, then if we eat such food (though vegeterian), then we will get their gunas as well.

So, eating vegetarian itself cooked by someone, will enduce their gunas into us and we wil start behaving slowly like them over a time of time.

b) Avoid Rajas/Tamas vegeterian foods like Onion, Garlic, Mushroom primarily and the list is more as well.

c) Eat only Vegetarian food as Prasadham (after offering to SriKrishna).

d) While having Prasadham (Food, Water), think about BhagavAn and avoid any talking or different thinking/watching something in TV or cellphone etc….

The whole purpose is to:

* Cook Sathvik food by (follow a) & b)) and

* Offer to SriKRishna in our Prayer Room (follow c)) and then

* Give it back to SriKrishna in our Stomach who is residing as JAATARA AGNI (follow d)).

So, all these three purpose should be served while eating food/Water.

 

 

 

2) Saha Vaasana Yogyar (சஹ வாசன யோக்யர்)

a) Choose whom we should Live with, and choose whom we should invite in our home and choose where we should stay if we go outside, and choose who should be our companion, freinds etc.. Basically try to avoid any bad persons within family relatives or outside.

b) Each of their Gunas affects our Gunas as well.

If they are Sathvik persons, then we will be Sathvik.

If they are Rajas, or Tamas or even Naasthikas, then we will slowly become like them as well.

c) So being always in Sathvik Satsangam is necessary all time, since this Samsaram is Gora-Saagaram, which will drag us into padu kuzhi.

d) Try to enlighten and transform them with Yatha Shakthi to make them Sathvik with BHagvan/Acharya Grace. If it is beyond about capacity, then don’t do Visha Parichai. Just leave it and pray BhagavAn for wellness.

 

 

3) SammBHashana Yogyar (சம்பாஷணை யோகியர் )

Choose whom we should Talk with and who we should avoid talking. Same scenario applies.

If we keep telling spiritual things to persons who like arguing/debating without any intention of impkementing the good things in their life, then their bad buddhi may overpower us

 

Acharyas says, even after we try to explain them about Spirituality with our Yatha Shakthi (ones own Ability), stillvtgey those talk about Just Lowkikam &/or Naasthikam and no BHagavAn and Moksham, then avoid them (no choice), since “AVANGALUDAYA GUNAMUM NAMAKKU OTTIKIDUM. SLOWLY OUR NISHTAI WILL REDUCE”.

 

However, Slowly after going through hardships, they will understand the reality, but we should keep praying  for their Athma Ujjivanam (Wellness/Moksham) on Swami Ramsnujar”s Lotus Feet, since we were also like them in our past life, and some other BhagavAta/Acharya prayed to BhagavAn for our benefit like Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami Prayed on our behalf.

Don’t worry, we all are in same situation. Keep saying “Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha” and Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami will deliver us Moksham in this SAME BIRTH. Ma Suchaha.

 

 

So, we need to remember these above three things and apply in any circumstances whereever possible with BHagavAN and Acharya Ramanujar Grace , and Swami Ramanujar will defenitely help by showering HIS NIRHEDUKAI KRUPAI (CAUSELESS MERCY) and  be in Sathvika Satsangam always like SriVelukkudi Krishnan Swami’s Satsangam.

What’s wrong in talking about materialism to them? It’s like telling spiritual people are not fit to gel in the society. That’s incorrect perception. Spirituality is mostly an individual experience. If they have same wavelength there will be a common point of discussion in any topic for that matter not just spirituality. Else we keep smiling and keep talking about new cars , buildings jewels just to make them happy.

We cannot force religion or spirituality on to anyone.

This will be adiyen’s approach. They will get spiritualism when time ripes.

Dear Vikaram swamy,

kindly reconsider the message you have posted. You have said “what is wrong in talking about materialism?” I am sure you will not apply this logic if any of your colleagues are talking badly about women. You will try to change the topic or you will move away from the place. Because we know such topics are bad for them and bad for us to even hear. Similarly, great acharyas clearly see what kind of conversations and associations are okay for us to engage in, and what kind of conversations or associations are to be avoided. It is wise for us to follow our poorvacharyas wisdom rather than try and figure it out by our own experience (as explained in detail by Kongil Pirati swamy). In the present situations we may not be able to avoid certain kinds of situations or people; in such condition, we should practise being like lotus leaf in water, and pray for change of situation soon.

In the past on some rare occasions Kongil Pirati swamy has derived quotations from movie songs and movie heros; in such cases one may denounce such unauthoritative quotations  make one’s own stance clear. But when he is clearly stating poorvacharyas’ wisdom, we have to accept it. If there is any doubt based on other references in scriptures then we may express that and seek clarification. But we can not argue without scriptural basis simply based on one’s own experience.

Therefore, kindly reconsider your reply. Thank you.

It is apt for our Swamy but not fit in this forum so adiyen requested Anna to.reconsider his quotations.

See Swamy, ultimately it is the individual’s choice Jeeva SwAthanthriyam based on what teachings and how to take it forward.

Those are Poorvacharyas statements through Swami’s upanyasams for those who are INTERESTED to follow for BhagavAn’s Happiness. BhagavAn transduces the highest knowledge through Acharyas ThiruvAdi to us.

 

We become 100% fit for Moksham due to THAYAR’S kataksham due to HER Kaarunyam to forgive our sins., that doesnt mean we dhould keep doibg sins and give Jasgtam tilo Thayar. Swami Desikans ThiruUllam needs to be understood properly. What BhagavAtava is saying is exactly same meaning as above posting “Don’t worry, we all are in same situation (means we are sinners). Swami Desikan says two types of people quest for Moksham.

1st type people:
Who like to listen to Poorvacharyas/Rishis words as much as possible with Yatha Shakthi (ones own Ability) and pray on BhagavAn lotus feet to forgive us for things that couldn’t be followed, then such people undergo less sufferings due to BhagavAn being happy and Moksham at end of life with Acharya Krupai.

 

2nd type people:

Swami Desijan says in one of the Desikans Prabhandham that “Anthanar Anthiyar Nondhavare Mudhal Avaar “அந்தணர் அந்தியர் நொந்தவரே முதல் ஆவார்”  for Moksham. Means whether it is any varnas people starting from Anthanar (Brahmins) to the Anthiyar (non Brahmin),  who didn’t follow or denied 1st type, then it means we choose by ourselves to  suffer (hardships) a lot, then finally we come to Sharanagathy asking for Moksham, like all of us, Which is what adiyen mentioned above as:

“However, Slowly after going through hardships, they will understand the reality,”

and also further positive approach for benefit of people who suffer 

but we should keep praying  for their (suffering peoples) Athma Ujjivanam (Wellness/Moksham) on Swami Ramsnujar”s Lotus Feet, since we were also like them in our past life, and some other BhagavAta/Acharya prayed to BhagavAn for our benefit like Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami Prayed on our behalf”.

 

If BhagavAta or adiyen, chose to be in 2nd type people, then that is ones own personal decision, to get Moksham at end if the life with Acharya Krupai through hardships.

 

But BhagavAta or adiyen can be WISE and shift from 2nd type to 1st type of people and live peacefully with Acharya Krupai and get Moksham at end of life.

 

 

So let’s be in 1st type of people:

Arpudham and Nandri Swami enpani #1457 for this topic. Kotaana Koti DhandavAt Pranaamam to Devareer Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami Thiruvadigalukku..

 

As Devareer always say, we need to use a Uvamaanam(Materialistic Reference) to explain the Uvameyam(Divine Object/Subject to be known).

 

Like Devareer use Uvamaanams like Wifi, Internet, Photos, X-ray etc…to explain the Uvameyam. But some can say these are unauthorized quotations since Poorvacharyas never quoted such examples in the past, but Devareer not to worry, since Acharyas has said we should pick current Materialistic examples that are decent to explain, otherwise it will be Varattu Gyanam and will be difficult to explain to make people understand. Adiyen has observed some other BhagavAtas use “Ice cream” word to explain BhagavAt Gita content. So others can also say this word “Ice cream” is prohibited by Acharyas and it unauthorised quotation, but the truth is, the whole intent of the conversation needs to be understood, if Uvamaanams (Materialistic examples) are needed to explain Uvameyam, then yes it should be used, but the content shouldnot have any Aabhaasam, that Is the primary thing that we should focus.

 

Following Devareer footsteps, adiyen also use some decent Uvamaanams like Car, Manufacturer manual, decent lyrics from movies and so many etc…and adiyen will continue to adiyens capacity to explain the Uvameyam in necessary threads. Nandri Swami for Approving adiyen for the “4 daily routines” thread when adiyen used some Uvamaanam song to condemn the pseudo-dharmis and Adharmis for the routine1 (Soodhu) and mentioned routine 2 “Adi Dhadi”, to explain the Uvameyam (Divine subject), then Devareer aporoved it by saying in next day enpani #1404 by saying about “three things kadal-mukhil-mani vannan same as adiyen compilation word “adi-thadi” mentioning about three things, plus devareer approved by saying about Uvamaanamvneccesdities to explain Uvameyam (BhagavAn)”.

Dear Kongil Piratti swamy,

I have tried to explain this directly to you before; let me try once more. I am sure if not today in the long run one day you will indeed understand the importance of what is being said. Please focus only on the weight and validity of the message setting aside the feelings of whether “I” am right or “you” are right. Our personal egos have no place when we both are sincerely desiring service to acharyas and want their original message to remain pure forever.

Thank you for letting me know now that the earlier messages I had sent you had indeed reached you. I was concerned that it was filtered out and you never got to read them. I wish I had made myself less intimidating that you could have written back to me expressing your feelings, paving way for a healthy discussion, instead of a prolonged veiled rebuttals.

Please read my earlier messages carefully again. In those messages I have raised my concern only against use of quotations from unauthorised sources and impure sources; eg movie songs. Because these sources (the lyricists’ motivation) are contaminated, because their philosophies are contaminated, we have to be very careful not to give the impression as if their words have some validity. I had even given the example – if I quote Kannadasan’s poetry to support some point, that may give innocent readers the impression that Kannadasan is an authority; but we know that his philosophical stance does not match with Ramanuja darshanam.  So, I should never cite him while discussing topics related to Ramanuja darshanam (which is foundation of this discussion forum). Even great acharyas are very careful and very very rarely cite explanations given by Sankaracharya. I have also mentioned how our Swamy quotes only from proper Vaishnava sources; his outer most boundary of references is Thirukural! So, we too have to be very careful, and faithfully follow his footsteps.

Regarding Uvamanam and Uvameyam: It is a very important part of scriptural discussions and explanations. Because, the scriptures are explaining what is beyond our perception; so it is essential to use  analogies of perceivable things to understand that which lies beyond the limits of our perception. That is why acharyas (past and present) have used it extensively.

So, my contention is not against use of similes  and metaphors per se. My contention is against the source of the similes and metaphors. Suppose, if you pick a common day-to-day observation as example, the reader is only going to see it as an example, and no more significance will be ascribed beyond that. But if you cite an improper source in this forum, it gives a sense of validity to that source; future readers may tend to use other things from that sources as valid; such possibility is not good for the preservation of our acharyas teachings.

Let me bring to focus one specific issue: you had quoted an actor’s punchline “பாக்க பாக்கதான் பிடிக்கும்” . My concern and contention is, using a punchline from such a source may lead naive readers to derive life inspirations from other punchlines from movie heroes. In the long run they will equate Perumal to movie hero status and vice versa. We can already see the such effects unfold.

Moreover, பெருமாள பாக்க பாக்க பிடிக்கும் because our ignorance is getting removed gradually. Cinema-காரன பாக்க பாக்க பிடிக்கும் because we are getting more and more covered in ignorance. There are so many other glorious ways to explain Perumal’s beauty. Why choose such an awful comparison which has the potential to mislead today’s society. Our Swamy and acharyas are struggling so hard to move us away from objects of sense enjoyment, because these are dangerous traps for us. So, why bring such references in discussions in this forum? It is good for us to stay away from them; it is good for us not lead others into such traps even inadvertently. Otherwise, we are actually unwittingly working against the efforts of our acharyas.

I beg you, please think carefully setting aside your ego. And if you have any negative feelings, please feel free to discuss directly with me, rather that hold it in your heart for long, and posting veiled messages. Doing so is not good for you and others. Please.

Adiyens perception from BhagavAta’s comment is that BhagavAta is a interesting character and has some pre-conceived mind. 

 

Either way, for BhagavAtas reference:

First of all, for first time adiyen noticed BhagavAta mentioning to Vikram BhagavAta about adiyens name in this above thread about adiyen’s reference to Movie songs. Since this is Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami’s Dharma Sandeha forum, hence it is adiyen’s responsibility to clarify to Swami about adiyen’s stance that adiyen is following Swami’s foot steps about Uvamaanam and Uvameyam references picking some decent lyrics for explanation in simplicity, which other Upayasakars and Acharyas also use in their Upanyasams, and it is not necessary to clarify to BhagavAta since BhagavAta is not asking the question to adiyen directly for clarification..

Consider when Swami says about Wifi, Internet as Uvamaanam to explain Uvameyam,. In this case, lets consider some other person who used to browse bad things in Internet, and later repented for it and came to Sharanagathy and then they stopped such browsing, and to over come such memory from their Chittham (mind), they will avoid the whole Internet itself, which is genuine from their view point. At the same time, lets consider, the very same person happen to hear Swami’s Enpani about Uvamaanam “Internet” example, then they feel immediately obsessed with Internet, due to their past life browsing history, and can refute to Swami NOT to use such examples. Another incident, Swami recently said in an Enpani that in Swami’s facebook, someone put comment after hearing Swami’s Enpani about Tamil in Singapore, that “why Swami is talking about Tamil Mozhi” Adiyen feeling is, “In TamilNadu, primarily the Nasthikam people talk about Tamil Mozhi Sangam etc…, so adiyen believe the facebook tweet person is genrally obsessed if anyone says about Tamil Mozhi Valarppu, hence that person immediately tweeted to Swami’s Enpani”. Is this Swami’s fault?. NO correct. So, does it mean Swami should avoid talking about Tamil Mozhi Valarppu. This is incorrect, so We have to talk about Tamil Mozhi, since it is needed, and Swami have to continue for welfare of others”.

So, there will be always someone whose life history (past bad memories) willnot allow them to intake even some good materialistic examples. So, can we say Swami not to use “Internet” example”.

It is same thing, Dhushyant Sridhar Swami used example “as Perumalai Paarkka Paarka dhann Pidikkum” to inform about Perumals Kalyanan Gunam “Dhristhi Chitta Paphaarinaha means, while we keep seeing Perumal, Our Sight and our Mind will be stolen by Perumal”.

Also, Swami Karunakaracharyar used example from 1st Endhiran tamil movie climax scene, when the movie hero says that “Red chip (Bad Memory) remove pannitta Namakku Nalla Buddhi Varum”, Idhu Dhaan BhagavAt Gita esssence”. Does it mean, Swami is recommending to watch movie. We shouldnot understand Acharyas statements in opposite way. The correct perception is, “When we happen to see some materialistic things in Youtube etc any Good Lowlikakm (avod bad Lowkikam at all times), then due to our involvement in Sampradhayam, we start looking every materialitic things in Samprdhayam view point like the above Acharyas, Upanyaskaras view point. This is called “Thaamarai Illayil Thanner Pola Vazhuvadu”. Just verbal saying is not enough, we have to implement it in our life. BhagavAta willl also feel so much relieved from Varattu Gyanam to Sneha Gyanam. We can feel lot of difference in our life, when we are in such situations, instead of frustrating, lets relax and turn the frustration to relaxation. Adiyen posted another thread how to do this. Please read with Open mind and enjoy. There are other BhavaAtas comments in these thread who face similar situations but now turned that unavoidable situations to relaxation. We all are wise under Acharya ThiruVAdi and we understand what is meant by Involving in Lowkikam and pick good Lowkkima examples in our favour.

 Adiyen has heard in Swami’s upanyasam that KatoUpanishad says, “Perumaalai Sangeethathil, Isayil, Naatagatthilum Paarkka Pazhaga Avendum”, that doesn’t mean we are considering the actor as BhagavAn. In present day, Naatakam is Movie. But avoid bad movie, or scenes, or lyrics , and pick only good Sangeetham, Isai, Naataka (movie escenes) etc.. if necessary to relate as per Acharyas, but not a compulsion.

 

So BhagavAta’s perception about picking movie lyrics obsession is something that BhagavatA have to self comeover it (Thamarai Ilayil Thanner Pole Vaazha Vendum), since movie (naatakam) itself is not bad, but we should avoid bad aspects of anything anywhere.

 

So, there will be always someone whose life history (past bad memories) willnot allow them to intake even some good materialistic examples.

BhagavAta need not fear that Bhaktas who are in Sampradhayam will turn back to Movies, in that case, same scenario applies for using WhattsApp, Wifi etc… So BhagavAta not to worry. BhagavAN ThiruvAdiyil Iruppavargalukku yeppodhum Nanmai dhaan nadakkum, no going backwards.

Adiyen is now addressing/answering to BhagavAta, since adiyen is only aware now from this particular thread that BhagavAta is addressing to adiyen for some clarifications to clear BhagavAta’s mind, ….So adiyen is answering with Swami’s Arul and Acharya Krupai. and Honestly adiyen did not understand what BhagavAta mean by Bhagavata try to convey before etc. What BhagavAta tried to convey?

As far as BhagavAta’s other statements about adiyen like “ego, “i,m right or you are right” etc….. is BhagavAta’s own perception about adiyen, and not adiyen’s statements anywhere. So, BhagavAta needs to reconcile and channelize on BhagavAtas’ thought process. So, adiyen is NOT responsible for BhagavAta’s statements/perception about adiyen.

Sri Mukkur Lakshmi Narasimha AchAryar Swamy used to say one story jokingly. A bhaktha was there on Tirumala once every year saying “GOHINDA due to you only this year all crops grew well”

Mukkur Swamy wanted to.correct that devotee to say “GOVINDA”.

Later refrained thinking what if he says “GOVINDA” and that year he did not get good crop? He will stop.his BHAKTHI.

So BHAKTHI on Govindan is more important and priority than anything else

That’s fine. Take your (BhagavAta’s) time. We all are same ThiruvAdi of Swami Ramanujar through our own Acharyas via Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami’s Arul. So we are only sharing our thought process from different perspectives. Hence adiyen do agree BhagavAtas concerns, which are valid. Honestly Adiyen don’t know completely who wrote the lyrics or their background. Every good word’s originated from BhagavAns creation, and there can be coincidences of some spiritual sentences in movies as well. For those who haven’t watched movies, may not even relate it to movies.

 

Like an example in Dhasathavaram movie though a nasthika has acted in it, there is a song called “Kallai Mattum Kandaal Kadavul Theiyaadhu”…..

கல்லை  மட்டும் கண்டால் கடவுள் தெரியாது,
கடவுள் மட்டும் கண்டால கல்லடி தெரியாது 
If you visualize only the idol, you cannot see the god.
If you can see only the god, you’ll not feel the pain.

எட்டில் ஐந்து ஏன் கழியும் என்றும், ஐந்தில் எட்டு ஏன் கழியாது?
அஷ்ட அக்ஷரம் ஏற்கும் நெஞ்சம், பஞ்ச அக்ஷரம் பார்க்காது.
Ashtaksharam – ஓம் நமோ நாராயணாய
Panjaksharam – நம சிவாய
A mind that believes in Ashtaksharam (Om Namo Narayanaya contains 8 tamil letters – ashta akshar) cannot see Panjaksharam (Nama Sivaya contains 5 tamil letters – paanch akshar).

ஊன கண்ணில பார்த்தால் யாவும் குற்றம் தான்,
ஞான கண்ணில் பார்த்தால் யாரும் சுத்தம் தான்.
One who sees with corrupt eyes can see only fault,
but one who can see with divine eyes can see only purity.

So we cannot deny the CONTENT of the lyrics though acted and directed by a nasthika, since it is taken from whole sampradhayam. Can we stop saying “Asthaksharam” since a nasthika has used it in movies.

So we should take it lightly.

 

Also there is a saying in Sampradhayam as “Yatherchaya Sukritham” means blessings received from BhagavAn, though one did a good thing even though it was accidental and it didn’t come from their heart. Still BhagavAn blesses them and removes some of their karma’s, and then there is some change in their life, Slowing due to circumstances, the nasthika after some point in their life, either in same birth or future birth, they turned into Asthikas like us from previous janma’ to this janma.

 

So நம்ம நால நாஸ்திகருளுக்கு  பெருமாளுடய “Yetherchaya Sukritham” கிடைக்குதுன்னா , கிடைத்திட்டு போகட்டுமே, அவர்களும் நாளை அடியார்கள் ஆகட்டமே.
